Hey Guys,

I have read through some posts on this topic and it seems their is some debate about NAVL.

I have never had an arcade game shipped before. Here is my issue:

I have an empty cabinet that needs to be picked up in Detroit and delivered to N. California. The cab is a Dragon's Lair 2. Nothing in it. My biggest issue is that the guy I am getting it from doesn't have any way to pallet the machine. SO, I need to know who I can use that either will transport it without a pallet OR pallet it at the guys house.

Also, I don't want to pay a fortune. So far I have tried Uship.com and the two quotes i got were for $600 and $800. That is WAY too much for my budget right now.

Any suggestions? There are no stairs involved and I wouldn't even mind picking it up at a terminal.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Uhh..can't

Norton,

I am unable to drive from Cali to Detroit to pick the machine up...otherwise I would..

Thanks

I used Specialized Transport twice recently and it was fine. They will pick up the game (ground floor), put cardboard on the corners and wrap it. They include $1500 insurance coverage per game ($5 per pound, actually, up to 300#). It's reasonably priced for door-to-door service (for terminal delivery (on a pallet), cheaper options are available).

Certainly there has to be someone on here from Northern Cali that has a DL cab they can sell this guy...?

There is for a stoopid price!

Someone in San Jose wants $1200-1500 for one. He won't budge on price. Says the cab is an 8 out of 10. Popular collector..but I am not paying that for a DL 2. Prices are not what they used to be...shoot, I had a Dedicated Space Ace I could have sold two years ago for $2000 or more and sold it 6 months ago for $1100. It was all I could get...

STI Shipping. 651-639-2800. The Chicago branch is 1-800-959-8880. I have never paid more than $350. I would highly suggest using them. Always had great service. You can also try R&L Carriers. They are fast and a little cheaper, but I have only dealt with them once and that was through a buy, not a sell. Those are my suggestions.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the suggestions!! I appreciate it.

Found someone to do it for $275 which includes palleting, shrink wrap, and blanket wrap of the machine. Not bad..

Thanks again everyone!

take it easy

Mentioned in another post?? Maybe not

Thought I mentioned in another post about who I went with...maybe not...

Anyway..I went with uship.com and got a quote from Rich at Moving Man...he has been great as far as communication...the cabinet is set to arrive this Saturday.

The turnaround time is longer than most because Rich doesn't make regular trips from Michigan to California...but when he does he is cheaper than most...

My plan was to post a new thread once the machine arrives with my feelings about the whole experience..
