My Afterburner does not boot. It goes into test mode ok, the ram/rom check says everything is good but if you leave it on, exit test mode try and go back into test mode you just get a screen with horizontal lines. There are also horizontal lines in the background of the test mode when it does work. I think once it was going nuts in test mode beauty like half of everything said it was bad then it crashed and would not restart until it cooled down. I have not managed to get it to do that again but I'd think it's a timing thing. I reseated everything, everything is wicked clean.

Anyone want to look at it? I have been trying to buy one but no one has answered me. I thought it would be an easy board to get but...

No, it is a tough board to get, because the game was basically never converted, and a lot of places ran their Afterburner machines for a LONG, LONG time.

I believe I read that you can swap the ROMs to a Space Harrier board, if you can find one of those.. good luck!

However, on a related note. If you should decide to part ways with your afterburner, I would most definitely purchase your bezel off of you if it is in nice shape. Mine isn't bad but it isn't great either.

I have a couple 'parts' boards if you end up needing a specific chip or whatever. From what you're saying it never goes into game mode which really bites. I do not believe AB has the suicide chip, so that isn't the problem. Dumb question, are you getting a good 5.05VDC if tested at the 5v leg of a chip on the far end of the PCB? That era of Sega games have voltage distribution problems at the terminal block and those little .100 dual row black connectors, so a good reading at the power supply means nothing.

Space Harrier and After Burner are completely different boards I'm afraid. You're probably thinking of Enduro Racer, that can be converted to Space Harrier. In any case, Space Harrier is a much more expensive game than After Burner.

I have a non-working After Burner PCB (and a working one), tricky to figure them out, as there are lots of customs chips and so on.

So I ask again, anyone on here fix these?

On this message forum? I doubt it.
There are a few independent repair shops
still out there, but you probably won't
find these places (like CST) on the internet.
Besides, they got enough workload without it.
Those guys used to work for Active Amusements
on Broad Street in Philly.
