Hi guys,

This hobby of ours and impulse buying aren't a good mix, but its fun though.. I'm guilty as sin when it comes to seeing a game for sale then whammo... Sometimes on a game I hadn't even considered til I saw it pop up. Had been doing good and laying real low for about 8 months.. now I've fallen off the wagon abit.. A Rampart 3P upgrade cab arrived today and just hit buy-it-now for a nice Atari Stunt Cycle. Stunt Cycle is a true impulse buy. It's not even on my wish list, what the hell was I thinking?? heheh but its was a childhood fave.

How many of you guys buy games on a whim and what were your recent impulse buys?

A few days ago, a good friend offered this advice: stay off the FS forums/CL and ebay. I just can't. Its like a trainwreck, just can't keep from looking at it.

This forum is a real problem.:D I never even considered Punch-out! until everyone started talking about them on here a few months ago. Now I feel like I HAVE to have one.

Always loading a game in the back of my company van when i am at work. I consider myself sick with addiction to arcades. I might need some personal help.

i used to really impulse buy, whatever i could find for a cheap price on CL, but now i'm just trying to concentrate on games i actually want to get...

I used to. I think a person finally wises up and realizes it's 100% pointless to have a game sitting there that doesn't get played especially for a person with limited space. My addiction is cured. I have 2-3 more games and I am seriously DONE collecting.

Seriously - I don;t talk out of my ass. Here's the story - when I was a wee lad (farm boy) I wasn;t exposed to video games. By the time I was exposed to video games (12-14) there were very few I did play. It was small town pub I'd go to after school. I played Track and field (just got a hyper ports), Joust (just bought a JROCK and Robotron cab), a red Donkey Kong ( I specifically bought a red one), and star wars because I was a SW NUTJOB as a kid and I bought it just because of that. My want list - a TRON because I played it as a kid, a pinball machine for my wife and the last one is simply an open space to fill if and when I find that right game.

I'm seriously done - I've owned and sold a few games and I've learned that it's not the quantity it truly is the quality.

I'm an impluse buyer for boxes of chips and old dead (cheap) boards that haven't been stripped.

If it is a game that is well known or if it is in a well known brand of cabinet that can be converted or restored, I will pounce like a tiger if the price is right.

almost every game i buy is on impulse
im on cl all the time looking for computer parts and other things to resale if i see a game for a good price i buy it
if its a game i dont want i clean it up restore it as best i can and sell it (wich allows me to buy a game i do want and then some )if its not worth the restore it gets a multi and out the door it goes

so far i have been pretty lucky never spent over 200$ on a machine and so far never resold one for less than 300$

im shure ill catch flak for fliping games but man this hobby gets expensive and how els can i afford a new game or 2 that i actually want

I used to impulse buy when I had money burning a hole in my pocket. But now I don't (and can't) do that. My purchases for the last couple of years I've deliberated, usually for weeks.

Exactly. When I started out a while back it seemed that if I blinked I had a couple more games. I finally had no room at my house or bar so I sold them off and started buying the ones I really wanted and remembered actually playing. Plus the marriage thing is good for slowing down the impulse buying bug.

I have bought a few on impulse because they were close and the price wasn't bad. They have all been games I have wanted however, and I am currently in the process of selling off some, so I can have the space and cash for another impulse buy, :).

Used to be very impulsive but I have lately been trying to just buy the games that I really want for my permanent collection.
