Who all has parted out a good working machine before.

Anyone parted out a machine with nothing wrong with it before? I got my War Gods I was looking to get rid off (but not in a hurry). Dont seem to have much interest in it. But it seems like I would have better luck parting it out. Real nice looking med resolution monitor, cab, boardset, etc.

Now I dont want to do this. Just seems wrong to do to a game that works fine. Just this game gets no love from people.

Many years ago I did that to a Frogger - back in the late 1980's. Still have some of the parts.
The cabinet did have some damage, though.

I have converted dedicated machines (really old ones).

i bought a monster Mechanized Attack just for the 25 inch monitor aloong with a double axle (for the same reason)

bolth games worked fine but were not really worth my time (nor did i have the space) and i needed some 25 inchers in a bad way for my neo geo and my die hard arcade
it was cheaper to buy these just for the monitor than to try and track down just the monitor

so they got gutted sold the attack cab to a local for mame fodder and the double axle is getting multied by me
and once i get my paypal setup they will be listed as parts

I parted out a Popeye once. Someone needed the cabinet, and others needed the parts. It went from 1 Popeye, to 1 1/2 Popeye's. Talk about eating some spinach, yo.

I parted out a mini BZ. Paid 60 for it at auction..parted out for over 350. Parts from that machine went to Italy and the UK. Oh yah.. forgot to mention that the cab had been a rat condo and reaked.

You're talking about WAR GODS, not a classic or even much of a playable game! Do the arcade world a favor and take a hatchet to that thing.

Cant the 1000 n 1 boards work on a med resolution monitor? If so, it could be a good candidate for a multicade.

Edit: nevermind on that. Makes more sense to put it in my Killer Instinct cab since it offers KI and KI2 on the board, and the buttons are layed out better for most games.

i'll never part a complete classic unless it's practically falling apart on it's own in an unrecoverable cabinet. never. It's just not what we're supposed to do.

True, parting out a War Gods isn't the same as parting out a Tron, but still, I hate to see any nice dedicated machine get gutted.

Good or bad, every game has its place in arcade history.

Besides, somewhere there's a poor deluded fool whose holy grail is War Gods.

I look at it this way it could be someones favorite game or a good memory for them and they might want your game. By all means ask around make sure no one wants it at all before you part it out.....On the other hand parting out one game might get 5 others going so its a toss up.

i think im going to part out a police trainer but thats not a classic. its just a standard 25" jamma cabinet. so ill just put another game in it.

Everytime I will try to sell as whole even holding onto it when I don't have the room. But there comes a point where its a game people don't really want and its a huge space hoarder, and everyone is lowballing you or no replies at all except for parts. If it comes down to me having room to close the garage door and taking a big loss to get it out, Its getting the sledge... There are games that I've had where I literally cannot get anyone to come out to take it, and there's the monitor I need sitting right there... Its getting swiped and parted.

I agree whole heartedly save the classics, but when it comes down to taking a fat loss and storing the thing forever, why should I have to bend over because people are too cheap or too lazy to drive their butts out here?
