white inside side walls on Lunar Lander, whats the story?

I've never seen this before the one i just brought home... not that i've seen very many of these

Anyone know? the serial number tag is ripped right through the number on mine... were the white walls early production? late? how many made? any info?

i tried searching and saw a couple posts about it (related to asteroids LL factory conversions) but no real answers

thanks

EDIT: i think it looks cool!

Never seen one like that before. I have a LL cab that is labeled as a prototype and does not have this. Based on this I might guess it was a later production....but we also know that the 1st 100 asteroids were LL cabs that were used when asteroids became the clear hit. Never seen this on any of those either which should be late in the LL run I would assume.

Here is the white insides on an Asteroids. Sorry for the bad "front" shot. This came from a guy I know.

I have one the same setup, white on the inside. In fact I got the one from Aaron. It has on the back of the cabinet lunar lander serial number........LL 1226

So question is can anyone answer, we know field conversion happened to alot , but with the white on the inside, does it make it a rare cabinet since most Lunar Landers were black on the inside?

great....another piece to the puzzle. So would that make it rare now, since we see it in the picture white? I ask becasue we all see black on alot of them on the inside, but now a picture of it with white on the flyer showing white.

I've seen several LL's like this and have too wondered about it. My LL is an early one serial nbr of 62 and it has black sides.

interesting stuff, thanks for the info everyone

its hard to see in the pic, but after the "-" and to the left of the rip in my s/n, there's a horizontal line on the base of the number... so that would fall in line with knightRider's LL-1226, if mine was LL-1XX1, both white

too bad the serial number isn't anywhere else on the cab i can find

and if there was maybe we could connect asteroids 215 XX to the LL cab it was originally... but they probably don't correspond sequentially

also, anyone have any high number LL's with black sides, maybe there's a range we can see they were white, but mine leaves a big gap from 1001 to 1991

If I had to guess I'd say they must have run out of laminate at the fab shop and had to fill orders. If you are behind schedule and have to choose between white inside or no cabs delivered, which do you choose?
