White Black Lite

Mine died the other day and all I had was a black black light so I put that in, it seems to do the job.

When I changed out all my marquee lights with these i only found them at my local electrical/lighting warehouse. They also had to order them as well, Id check near by and see whats around you. good luck

There is quite a difference between purple and white blacklights... I prefer the purple in most applications (even where it calls for white blacklight).

Does it make a big differance having the Purple Black lights vs the White Black lights?

Yes. Usually white black lights are called for in background art in 2-way mirror games (B/W Midway games for example.) In almost all instances where I have experimented the white black light lights the art much better than a purple.

Also, purple black lights can change the color of the art.

There are cases where I have used a purple instead of a white just because the white is too damn bright. Omega Race upright comes to mind where the front lower control panel cover is white black light but damn it's bright. Takes aware from what's going on in the game so I swapped it out.

Ok interesting!!

anyone have some pictures of the
"white black light?"
I thought you said "white" as in the size of the small white bulbs but wanted a black one.
So now im interested to see one :)

I replaced the burnt out white black light with a purple black light in my asteroids deluxe and it doesn't do a very good job of highlighting the bezel artwork. Too dark. I have had no luck finding a white black light locally in L.A. Anyone know a place in L.A.?

The Black light blacks are also pretty poor for Battlezone background art. I've tried that. Very, very dark.

they look pretty much like your standard incandescent. f15t8bl is black light white and f15t8blb is black light blue.

on the other note, call around local bulb shops (every metro area seems to have a few) and supply stores, places like lowe's or home depot don't carry the white ones but bulb shops do. i know they can be ordered online for way cheaper, i just prefer getting stuff locally when i can without having to wait on shipping.

I'm needing 3 of them myself, I'll go ahead and get the proper one in Tron, Space Invaders and finally get battlezone right. I checked at the local electrical outlet that I thought would be a slam dunk, but they don't carry it. I heard Grainger carried them so I stopped there and checked. $15.00 per bulb. hrm..not willing to spend 45.00 on just 3 lamps, I'd seen the post about bulbster.
I'm the same way, I'd much rather buy local but I just couldn't pass this up.

The fluorescent below the CP on an Omega Race should be cool white, not a black light at all. And there should be a cardboard shield behind it that prevents any light from there from bleeding into the monitor area.
And for the upper fluorescent that illuminates the scenery, the manual clearly shows a BLB bulb. But if a white BL looks better there.... I've never tried one, so I have no opinion.
