Whitch mod?twilight zone

The third magnet i have thought about doing but dont have the guts to drill a hole in my playfield

Theres a guy on youtube showing how its done and everytime he drills the playfield my teeth would grind thinking he's going to screw up somewhere.

I've had both a heavily nodded Tz and a stock one, the stock Tz was much more fun to play. The only mods I would do are the gum balls and the piano. The rocket, robot, slot, camera, tv and all those other mods make the game look and feel so cluttered.

The 3rd magnet is okay, but for the price and effort it's hardly used during play and in my opinion not worth it.

My favorite TZ mod is to improve gameplay and fun factor by swapping it out for another pin!

There are three mods which I think are a must for every TZ - gumball lights, gumballs, and the diverter magnet.

That was me :)

The only issue I had was I didn't use a drill stop when drilling the pilot holes for the template for the hole. In actuality you don't need to drill pilot holes for the template since the spots for the holes are dimpled.

Other than that it was super easy and the hole created was very smooth. I was getting my playfield restored so it wasn't too big of a deal. I wouldn't recommend doing the third magnet unless you are sending your playfield out for clearcoat.

I'm not much of a mod guy but there are a few on TZ that I love.

In no certain order:
1. Third Magnet
2. Player Piano
3. Gumball Machines Lights and Gumballs
4. Door Flashers

Everything else like the slot machine, the TV, the lamp post, etc look bad IMHO.

You have come to the end of your journey...

As a dedicated Twilight Zone player and aficionado, it's my duty to chime in and tell you (and anyone else) to NOT drill holes in your playfield.

A "mod" that you bolt, sticker, or otherwise apply without permanent modification is one thing - the third magnet is another. If your playfield did not come with one, don't f*ck with it. Buy a spare playfield that already has it and keep your original, ORIGINAL. Yes, it's neat and all (a proto I play has it), but it's not worth destroying an original that didn't come with it. There are plenty of folks, me being one, that view your machine as considerably devalued when modified from it's factory state. Keep your machines factory stock!

I'm also against aftermarket clearcoating, LED's, and even bolt-on mods - but I'm sick like that.

Rod is watching you...

i agree with most of what you said, but i disagree with your stance on clearcoating and led's

clearing your playfield protects it!, i think mylar is does more damage to value(and art)

led's arent only nice to look at(when done tastefully) but also reduce heat, which also saves connectors and components

preservation is the goal

I'm sure Rod would'nt be too happy with many TZ owners but you have to at least try some LEDS.They bring out the best on the playfield
