I have a whirlwind pinball I am rebuilding, here is what I have done, the game did not play at all no lights or gameplay or scoreboard, the main board (CPU) had alot of acid damange, I found a new board and replaced it I now have gameplay and sound, but no scoreboard I have tested the voltage and I had no +100v I have now fixed it but no scoreboard, so I ordered a new scoreboard knowing that this is one of the main issues. When I plugged it in and turned on the game I now have a scoreboard (yea) but, this it the only thing I get (junk) does anyone have any idea for this issue, Please help......

Try replacing the ribbon cable to the scoreboard first. And reverify the voltages to the display...

cant something like this happen if the ribbom cable is plugged in upside down? thought i remember reading that some place.

See if one of your connectors isn't off by a pin. I did this when working on my Whirlwind and had similar results. It looked right when I plugged it back onto the board, but you had to look real close to tell it was off by a pin.

I talked to him on the phone this afternoon. He was off by a pin in his connections. He now has displays, but has three locations that do not show anything, even in display test. I doubt he has blown the brand new display. He's taking the display, power supply, and CPU board to a friend with a High Speed so he can test them individually...

Ok,
I fixed the first problem now I have words and numbers but the issue I am having now is on the 2nd line there are 3 spots that never come on I have all the dip switches right according to the paperwork that came with the new Scoreboard. so here is what I am getting where it says

Feel the Power
of the Wind

I am getting Feel the Power
f the ind

any idea's?????

Then he could have a cpu board problem in the display generation section. Maybe some battery corrosion around those resistor packs.

He bought a "known working" CPU off of Ebay, but that don't mean anything. he had to do some PS repairs. I told him he needs to figure out what board i causing it before moving on.

Fixed, I got it to fully work the issue with the displays was that the brand new board the pins were not all the way seated once I pushed them in (bam) everything works.
