I am assembling the topper fan on my Whirlwind, but I cannot find a diagram on the fan parts. The fan is loose and will not stay in place.

It looks like it should just slide on, as there is a metal clip on the back side of the fan, but it goes on loose.... The motor and fan came with the machine when I bought it, but it was not assembled. I had to also buy the "tirac" board and wire it up.

It's odd it does not use a "D" shaped slot on the end and a securing ring, but both the fan and the shaft from the motor are round.

It's all wired up, and the motor is working... just no fan. :(

Can someone send me or post some pics of their fans?

Thanks,

-Mike

out of luck

ACK!

Guess I am out of luck on this one..... going to have to rig up something.

Whirlwind Fan Photo

I will try to help you with understanding the photo. The end of the fan by the shaft has four slots cut in it. The fan slips over the shaft and a compression clip (silver in the picture) compresses the four pieces of the fan to the shaft.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the pic!

HEY!

Thanks for the pic! I tried to get a good look at the one at CAX... but with the topper on it was not easy to see.

I was afraid of this.... I had it together like this and the fan flew off (and broke a fin) as it was not tight enough. The replacement fan I bought from Marco does not seem to fit any tighter. SO, I either have the wrong motor or the shaft is worn down.

It seemed to work great till the fan took an exit to the left off the wall... I had the topper off as I had just wired in the triac board and was giving it a test. I thought the fan seemed a bit looser than it should be. Sure enough.... wham.

OK, well I sure hate to spend $60 on a new motor....

Thanks again!!
