Alright, I have been storming up some ideas for a poster for the film, here is one of the layouts i have been working on. Problem is I am having a hard time with which one I like better, I am leaning towards version A. without the Pac Man font on the marquee, just because it gives it a more mysterious and dramatic clean look. Version B. is easier for anyone to understand what they are looking at, It's Pac Man, so people are more familiar with that, but could pose a problem with Namco coming after me?
What would you choose ?
Now I have a totally other poster design that I will show later, but this is what I need help in deciding at the moment.

Version A.

I like the Pac Man one.

I wouldn't think that a photo of a guy playing one of Namco's games would be and issue.

I guess I could also split the difference and have Pac Man barely show up? Kinda drown it with high exposure, so it still keeps a dramatic effect, man I am having a hard time deciding which I like better.

I vote for B....you instantly think "arcade" when you see it. The first one is just a big block of light with some t-molding which might be hard for the average joe to put two and two together to equal "arcade".

Not easy. I do like the first one because to most people other than us, you would have to really look at it to get it. I like that. The second one is still really cool the way it is. Tough call.

i prefer the second as it makes it instantly recognizable and adds some interest to an otherwise fairly empty top-half of the poster. but the first version is still just fine and if you're really worried about being sued by Namco it'd be an excellent choice.

IMHO, you probably don't want any indication of a real game in that photo. Even a blurred Pac-Man would get Namco pissed and you facing a lawsuit. It's their flagship property. They don't want anyone using it without permission. I'd try to be general. Either put a fake game marquee up there, or ARCADE, or the name of the movie in the form of a marquee. Get creative, but be general.

I like the 2nd one for sure.....as it shows you it is a movie about arcade machines at a glance. I also like the American Graffiti reference....for those of us old enough to remember ;).........

The problem with the first one is it's hard to tell it's a marquee at all. You could be staring into a rectangular portal to another dimension.

The "Pac...an" shows you what's going on instantly.

Ditto, great movie! Are there any legal ramifications to using that (barely modified) tagline? I wouldn't think so, but who knows ..

Nope your no.
the tag line was my suggestion :D

B for the win for sure the other one is too plain and isnt as reconizeble as anything
maybe through a distressed look on it to give it an "aged" effect
