Which would you buy? California Speed or Cruisin USA

I am in a situation next month were I can either buy Cruisin USA or a California speed. Both games work and are in great shape. I grew up playing cruisin usa and love it but cali speed looks cooler and is a bit newer. Which game should I buy or should i just buy both :)

CAL SPEED is one of my favs. Ive owned both. Cal speed is designed to let you catch up and win....more for "anyone"....

USA is the oldest of the CRUIS N series. Its cool....but Cruis N World vs Ca Speed would be a tougher choice (to me) and even then, ...CA SPEED wins.

I think Im going to buy both, Ive got my eye on a twin sit down daytona usa also, that will be bad ass to have all those in the game room

Personally, I _really_ don't like the cruisin' anything games, so I would vote for the Cali Speed. Thats just my $0.02 tho... I wouldn't buy one of each either, just because it would be _way_ cooler to have t20 (or more ;) ) of the same game, so you can link them.

cheers
/Tim

I grew up with Cruisin as well, but love CA Speed... tough choice but I'd go with CA Speed if I had to choose, but if you can get both do it!!!

I own California Speed and it was the best $100.00 i ever spent. (pawn shop mix up and score for me) Its a great user friendly game that i play and my 5 year old can play. THe side art is awesome and the only issue i have is the slider for the seat doesnt lock....might just be my unit though. They are big so make sure you have room. Bigger one you buy them! and make sure you get the 2 brackets that hold the seat to the actual game its important. what i like is you can control every imaginable option.....freee play, sounds while playing, attration sounds, everything....not sure about USA as ive never had the pleasure. but for my 2 cents its California Speed all the way!

Dang nice score for 100$, ill be paying 400$

yea i still cant believe he took the $100.00 when i offered....but he wanted it out of there and was tired of looking at it. Id love to have another to use the header they had to link the two but dont have the room for two....barely one along with the other toys....who needs a dining room table...NOT ME!!!

I started out with one and because of all the tracks and the mirrored track option... Its a fun single player game. But when I added 2 more and linked the three..its a ton of fun. I like the fact that my friends re never out of the race... They'd never play it with me! Though I do enjoy throwing fruit at my friends when I'm ahead of them. Is it wrong that I don't tell them how to do it? :).

Don't know much about either personally I prefer the rush series. I do believe I heard from an operator that crusin (possibly all) or at least the early crusin's needed an upgrade to the board to be linkable so if that linking is something you might want to do in the future you might look into that to see if the game already has the ability or how much it would cost to go that route.

You can run people over in the mall stage in California Speed. I bought the game for N64 for that reason, but it was editted out.

I want cruisn cause you can run over cows and deer and watch them splatter everywhere. The guy wants 700$ for both, he just told me he pulled the cruisin monitor out but has a rgb to vga converter i can have to put in a lcd, i might do if i cant find a nice med res monitor, he also might throw in super system cab to sweeten the deal

whatever you get, grab 2 of the same and link them. Driving games are much better when your racing a friend.

Cal speeds often got converted to crusins, So they probably did not earn well on routes. But generally atari games are better than midway games(from a players perspective).

crusin can be upgraded with a board swap to crusin world, offroad challenge, and exotica(you need chips and I think a wiring adapter)..

I am not a driving game fan at all but I remember playing Cruisin' USA back in high school or shortly thereafter. I have played other Cruisin' variants but I like the original best. I have no room for such a large beast and if I did, it would probably not fit through my doorway.

I had a cruisin usa, and honestly, compared to my other driving games (Rush the Rock & Ridge Racer V twin) cruisin only got played for the first couple days. I ended up trading it away to a fellow klov'er. I picked up my cruisin USA off c-list for $150
