I am torn between a purchase of a Silent Scope 2 (dark silhoutte) or a linked pair of War: final assault.

Cannot make up my mind which is the best game for my arcade. Can't buy both right now.

Which is more popular?

If the price is the same, I would personally take the (2) Wars. I think they would really work well for the head to head "head-shot"-style combat with kids who come into your cade.

They both take up too much room. I say neither, but If I had to pick between them, Dark Silhouette would be my pick for the better game, and War would be the most fun IF you have a lot of friends who are willing to come over and play your games with you. But I still say neither.

Linked games are great if you have friends who play them.
If you play solo then not so much.

I would go for the Dark Silhouette. For some reason those War games go very cheap and everyone is always trying to get rid of them. They were selling them for $100 at TILT. I tried buying one but the manager was never there and when they were there someone got there before I did. I wasn't planning on keeping it but could have used the monitor, sold the boards and converted the cab to something else. :)

Oh wow, I didn't know they link. I thought it was exclusively a solo affair. I kinda want a pair now.

yeah the cool thing about SS2 is instead of time attack they added a duel mode, which even single player is pretty damn awesome. So when you link them, it becomes a 1v1 affair which kicks ass.

I had a similar situation, considering the "stance" in which i had to play I didnt buy it. Im a taller guy so that might had made a diffrence.

I can tell you this...

I had linked WAR cabinets. What happens is that you get real good... and playing the computer gets old. Unfortunately, your friends don't want to play against you either because you kick the shit out of them. So the game ends up taking up a ton of space and gets used very little.

They are awesome looking cabs though... with the beat-down artwork even dings and such look like part of the theme.

I sold my two for $500 I think it was...with topper.

What the Op failed to mention is that game will most likely be going into an all ages public arcade.

Multiplayer always wins when you're talking about a public gameroom. 2xSS2 would be ideal but it sounds like that's not an option, so War it is.
