Which of these 4 games would you choose?

I'm a big fan of games that implement a good "risk vs reward" system so I would personally choose Qix.

Games with good "risk vs reward" systems often foster the player to come up with multiple strategies to win. And games with multiple strategies have more replayability for me.

I own Tempest and Qix and bring the latter to CAX regularly and people play it nonstop all weekend. It has a very wide appeal, and a fast learning curve. It's super addicting and fun.

I'd say Qix. Very underrated.

Tempest
Qix a close second
Never played the others enough to form an opinion

Ok let me rephrase, they are not grails, but they are high on my "want in my collection". All the other games in my list I have already, these are just the four that ended up not being able to find, or not in my budget, etc. over the past year.

It is definitely going to be a tough choice.

If you enjoy the troubleshooting and repair part of the hobby:
Tempest
RallyX
Carnival
Qix

If you enjoy the Gameplay:
Qix
RallyX
Carnival
Tempest
Not untrue, but for Qix if you replace the original boards with a Zooq PCB and the notorious Taito PS with a switcher, there won't likely be a need for troubleshooting or repairs.

Tempest is my favorite classic arcade video game of all time, so personally i'd go with that. that being said, they're all solid titles and if were in a quandary like this i'd probably take the first one of the four that popped up for a reasonable price.

Tempest. Fast, tough, and kicks my ass. Other games are fun but don't compare I think.

So what I have decided to do is primarily go after Tempest and Carnival (not Carnevil ya goof lol). I can make both of those fit after making some adjustments.

I am working to sell my Gyruss and Scramble and Space Invaders, and then replace those with Space Invaders/Qix Anniversary Edition, Rally-X, and a high-quality multigame that will do Gyruss and Scramble.

There, I win.

This thread was actually quite helpful, thanks everyone!

Tempest is the easy choice, but when I owned it (twice), I played it less and less because it's the same thing over and over.
However Rally-X gets lots of plays forever and Carnival has such great rules (like shooting same color pipes) that makes it the winner for me.

Qix is a solid game but 4th place for me.
