I've looked through the list of games, but I'm not a NeoGeo expert and only recognized some of them, so I'm not particularly drawn to a specific cart so far. I have a 4 slot board I picked up from tddlny off http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=155146 with the following carts

Metal Slug 5
NAM-1975
The Super Spy
Ninja Combat
Spin Master
King of the Monsters 2
Cyber Lip
bust-a-move
football frenzy
fatal fury
baseball stars 2
metal slug
kizuna encounter super tag battle
fatal fury 2
samurai showdown III
samurai showdown
aero fighters 2
metal slug 2
street hoop
baseball stars professional
ninja combat
3 count bout
sengoku
top player's golf
the next glory super sidekicks 3

Which multicart would you recommend?

I have the 138 in 1 and I like it. Has a couple of good games for my little girls, lots of fighting games that my teenage boys enjoy and I dig all the Metal Slug games. Just wish it saved high scores.

do you have yours in a multislot? I've read about some issues but also that there is a jumper that needs to be moved.

I have a 150 in 1 in my single slot neo. I like it but my only gripe is that it has way to many fighters on it.

I have a 150-in-1 that I've testing in my single slot and also workings in my double slot. +1 on too many fighters, but I bought the cartridge to add value to a Neo-Geo I'm going to sell sooner or later.

so the 150 will work in a multi and allow the other slots to work?

The 150 in 1 cart for NEO GEO cabs requires a NEO GEO motherboard to run. This is an MVS cart, not an AES cart. The main goal of this board was to create a simple and cost effective board that combined many of the very popular Neo Geo Games.. This board will not work with other games in a multislot (better put, it will work and not allow the other games to work) and may need bios adjustments in a multislot. But who needs a 4 multi slot when you have 150 games on one board.

I'm going to be getting a 138 instead of a 150. Has a better game selection, plus you can pick which games you want to show in the menu.

It works fine in my 2-slot. The only "issue" per say is that to be able to switch to the other carts you have to first select a game on the multi-cart.

I love the Neo fighters, but hate all the hacked, plus, super deluxe versions that the multis have on them.

QFT. A lot of those slots could be taken up with other "legit" games (kinda strange to be saying that considering what we're talking about). The 150-1 I saw in someone else's Neo did not last very long just because of all those dumb hack versions. It makes an otherwise useful product really lame imo.

I chose the 150-in-1 over the 138-in-1 for the sole reason that it takes a good 30-40 seconds to load a game with the 138-in-1. With the 150-in-1 it's just a quick soft-reset and you're in (10 seconds max)...

Also, the 138-in-1 has been reported to be a pain in the ass to get working with multi-slot boards.

I am pleased with my 150-in-1 for the most part.

If your focus is fighters, get the 150-in-1.
If it's not, then get the 120-in-1.

The 138-in-1 has an interface jamma board that will require you to solder a jumper in for a multi-slot. If you want a menu with pictures of the games and the ability to turn them on/off then the 138 is the cart for you. The drawback is the menu stays on the screen while the game loads for a period of time, look at YouTube to see this and decide.

the 138-in-1 [...] takes a good 30-40 seconds to load a game

Absolutely true. I've seen this first-hand on a friend's machine. The 138 is AWFUL, you could literally get a cup of coffee, wait for it to cool down, drink it and get a caffeine buzz going just in time for the game to start. My 111-in-1 blows it out of the water.

it's true there are long load times with the 138-in-1 and with the menu interface card it may play less well with multi-slot boards than the others. but the menu system is better with screen shots that some of the other carts don't have and the game list is customizable should you want to remove a bunch of the hacked fighters, something you can't do with any of the other multi's.

it may however be a moot point as it's been a while since i've seen any of the 138-in-1's for sale (new, at least,) and i suspect the manufacturer has discontinued it in favor of the 150-in-1.

i've been running my 138-in-1 on two different single-slot MVS boards (one JAMMA conversion board, one dedicated Neo Geo) and so far it runs very well on either.

Two different manufacturers are doing these carts. One does the 111/120/150-in-1... the other does the 138-in-1 (and I think maybe the old 100-in-1). If the load time wasn't 5x longer than the 150-in-1 I'd have been all over the 138-in-1.

With the UniBIOS my load time is just about instant with the 150-in-1. Pre-UniBios it took maybe 8-10 seconds to load to screen total... now it's 1-4 seconds depending on the game.

I enjoy the 150-1, It has a lot of fighters but it also has a good selection of classic games.
Has platform, Beat them ups, Shoot them ups, Fighters, puzzles, ect, it has everything. Only game it didnt have which I wanted was Magician Lord but I have two now. 150-1 is the way to go, it loads fast as well and easy to use.

Magician Lord is a great game, and seems like a glaring oversight on the part of these bootleg manufacturers.

The other one that I find to be unusually missing (on some models of the multicarts) is Super Baseball 2020.

Super Baseball 2020 is included on the 150-in-1 I do believe. Magician Lord ... meh... I had one and sold it. What I miss most is Super Dodgeball, Windjammer and KOM2. That said... I now own all 3 in addition to the multi.

When are these things ever available?

Everytime I have the extra cash, they are not available.
