On my newest quest to convert my Ms. Pac-Man back to original hardware (almost there), I'm faced with a dillemma. I need to make a decision on the monitor. I can either put a completely rebuilt G07 in with a beautiful picture, but it does has moderate burn from what appears to be Astro Invaders (smoked plexi should hide most of it though). Or I have a TV with a good tube and could do one of those universal chassis' (which I've never done before).

Decisions, decisions. If this was your game, what would you do?

If it matters (for what its worth), it would also be about $50 cheaper for me to use the G07.

Tube swap??? Maybe?
Nope. This tube wont work with anything I have but appears to be a good candidate for a universal chassis.

Besides, I suck at tube swaps. Last time I did that I ended up ruining 2 monitors, one was my original Ms. Pac-Man monitor, hence why I was running a PC monitor and a 48-1 for awhile. Now its getting converted back.

I hate burn, but that just me. If its not to bad, I would use the G07. Maybe get a darker plexi to but over it.

I don't know about where you live....but I needed a monitor a while back and I posted a wanted ad on CL. I actually had like 4 different people contact me who had them and a couple just wanted them out of the house. They needed some work but came out great. Just a thought....before you do a lot of work, see what might be around for cheap or free.

If the universal chassis you are referring to is a Wei-ya/8liners etc, then you are much better off sticking with the G07. The Wei-ya have a definite problem with blooming and other issues.
