I have a Jungle King with a WG I just recapped and am trying to adjust the picture.

I've adjusted things so that I can now see the whole screen (score, credits and such) but the image is rectangular and if I resize the vertical adjustment the player gets cutoff at the top and the credits cutoff at the bottom...

So I can kinda leave it the way it is with the retangular picture, but there is some visible space on all sides.

So is there a certain setting I should use to resize the picture (or reshape it?) Should the image curve with the tube? I tried to take a picture but its kinda hard to see it...

Thanks!

Normally you's have a little space between the edge of the tube and the graphics. There was typically a plastic bezel around the tube that cut off a little of the tube, so that was fine.

If the tube curves, the image curves. It shouldn't stretch dramatically as it does, though...

If I am not mistaken, the 4903 was the monitor from Moon Patrols and the width is a little funky. I have one sitting on my shelf that I just pulled from a Moon Patrol and it is too wide for most horizontal games. The images go too wide. Sounds like the problem you are having.

Edit: The WG 4900 manual specifies the differences between the 4901 and the 4903.It looks like a capacitor (C365) and a resistor (R389) difference, but I will defer to the monitor gurus as to whether the 4903 chassis can be modded to act more like a 4901.

You can always change the value of the horizontal width cap to increase or decrease the horizontal size if the horizontal width coil won't adjust it as far as you want it...

i had to do this for my qbert on a 4900. image was to large, change out the width cap behind the width coil (c365 i think). i had a .15 uf in there that i couldnt adjust smaller, i put a .33 uf and the image came out smaller and then adjusted the width coil to fill the screen.

Yes I've actually adjusted my monitor's horizontal width cap...I think I'm doing all the right things...

In thinking about this, its really the image in relation to the bezel...

As I stretch the image to fill the screen to the bezel, the text get cuts off due to the fact the the game has the text right at the top and bottom of the visible image...So I can't see any way around this, I need to pull the image in a little from the bezel to see everything clearly...otherwise the words go under the bezel and are only partially visible..

I guess because I originally had the image stretched to the edges of the monitor screen and it flowed under the bezel, it just seemed like the norm...but in this case It needs to be pulled in a bit to get the full image....
