Which joystick do i need???

In case you haven't figured it out, an analog stick can measure the actual distance traveled by the stick in the two directions. So, for example, in a flight simulator game, it can differentiate between when you pull back on the stick a little to to gain altitude slowly, and when you pull back on the stick A LOT to dodge a missile.

An 8 way stick has four switches, one each for up, down, left, and right, and can indicate the diagonals when two of the four switches are activated (e.g. up+left, down+right, etc.). The game can only tell which direction you are pointing, not how far or how little you have moved the stick in that direction.

Not familiar with Cobra command, check the manual to see which one it needs. I'd bet it's the 8-way. Games like Afterburner (probably) use an analog stick.
