For all you that say " save all games and restore them" where are you when I practically beg for someone to come and get FREE cabinets and monitors that I spent time/money to pick up .

Sounds like a lousy business plan.

Trust me people I would much rather bring a game back to life than convert, but some times that's just the best option.

"Best option" is to not acquire what you can't use / sell in the first place.

I feel that more people enjoy the 60-1 games more. They are the old standards that everyone knows and loves. Just make sure that you use a crt when you do it or the look of the game sucks. IMO
By the way Aaron...do you have a 3" trackball around the shop that you would want to sell?

1st off after reading some of this....anyone making shitty comments obviously doesnt know mrsodapop. i do, great guy.
2nd most of the shitty comments came from people out of michigan.

so what if he wants to make a multi to make some cash out of a DEAD machine.
just for the record i bought a fully working galaxian off him...didnt want to turn a working classic into a 60/1...so he sold it to me. still a proper galaxian

and would bend over backwards to help anyone in our hobby out...he even told me as much as he hates capping things...if i brought my machines to him he would do them very very cheap for me...he is not a multi whore...just a man trying to keep his head above water and a guy not wanting to waste another dead machine that will cost WAY too much to restore...
other areas machines may sell for $400-500 here u r lucky to get $200 even if u paid $500.

Good for you pinkpot... I can't stand that elitist shit and trolling that goes on here. There have been many threads over the years claiming this is a "preservation society" and unless you strive to make all your machines as shiny and original a possible you're just a drain on the hobby. And the banter goes back and forth. The fact is, BOTH groups have just as much to add and contribute so the trolls that bring this tired subject back up every now and again need to just piss off and stow the attitude. I'm sure I speak for most when I say that if we had the space, time, and money we'd all have giant, all-original arcades in pristine condition. But in the mean time I'll take the multi boards whenever necessary.

While the KLOV forums (note not VAPS forums) are "preservation CENTRIC", this is NOT a "preservation specific" forum... I say SOD OFF to anyone who doesn't like the topic of multicades being brought up here. The subject line of this post is very clear. If you don't like the topic of multi's... here's nice piece of cheese to go with your whine...

And that service would be making sure plenty of CRTs end up in the trash instead of being recapped or reused? Hundreds of classic game boards similarly being disposed of? And of course making sure lots of cabinets get molested for trackballs and extra buttons?

But thank goodness we have a way to get rid of all these super-rare and valuable PC monitors and LCDs that will surely be sought out by collectors for generations to come.

First off you should do a 60-1 system in the cabinet, you'll find a better fan base for those games and reguardless of the copyright policies they're here to stay and are a really nice system for those that dont have the space or money to buy three of four games.

And to set some issues aside I'd like you (bally wiz) to know that most of us that do conversions get these cabs butchered up from the jamma era 87'-95'. When it was better to jammatize dedicated classics to newer money making games to bring in revenue for the operators. In the process most of the original parts were already scrapped out.
As for myself and others up here we don't throw any good part away, you know this since I've sold you parts before. I re-build monitors and sell them to people that can use them in other classics and as for the Other parts they all get offered up here or ebay so you cant tell me that i just scrap cabs. I try to use only old computer monitors in them these days so you can save perfectly good monitors from just being smashed up at the recyling centers.

I've sold almost 50 60-1's and have gutted one or two dedicated cabs, why you ask because no one wants them for what the parts are worth so you clean them up and rebuild them with new art and trims and Oh wow there's a demand and now you can sell them.
I Have also brought dedicateds back from the dead also using the multiboards the only thing missing is the original PCB's. There's a few Donkey kongs and Ms pac out there now running 60-1's that you 'd never know the difference.

I'd like to think that having sold that many multicades up here there's more classics for you collectors to buy up.

SO Please dont make vague accusations about us that convert games
