Which manufacturer do you think had the best overall quality when it comes to electronic component reliability, and cabinet build quality?

I'd have to go with Midway, mainly because of the Pac's, and the later cabinets like Mortal Kombat/Killer Instinct. I'd say it'd be hard to argue that a Pac-Man cabinet isn't the most classic design from the early 80's, and the Mortal Kombat cabinets were the most classic design from the 90's. Well built, the cabs hold up, and as far as electronics tons of Pac boards have broken over the years, but they're easy to fix and aren't that buggy or unreliable. I've seen tons of Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man and Galaga games that have original untouched boards in them that still work fine. I suppose the G07's were shit but that wasn't Midway's design.

Can't say for electronics, but as far as cabs go I think Capcom made great cabs! They are so versatile and built well from my experience.Awesome cabs!

I think most of the companies back then had decent quality. In my collection the Nintendo, Bally Midway, Atari, Willams, and Stern Machines look pretty good. The only ones that looked as cheap as possible were the Cinematronics games.

I agree with this. I have a pac that has been on for more than 1.5 years straight now and it is still on with no problems.

When you guys say Midway I assume this excludes the MCR II series of games? Seems to me I always see a never-ending list of problems with these. Is this because of bad PS design, components (IE leaky batteries), or something else?

And here I thought Pole Position was the most reliable boardset in existance? lmfao

As far as the electronics, Nintendo seems pretty solid. However, Nintendo loses some points in cabinet build quality and design. I wish they had refrained from manufacturing particle board cabs and stuck to the original solid wood cabs. It's part of the reason I don't own a particle board Nintendo anymore. Also, every Nintendo cab owner can attest to the many wood bases they've had to repair or replace. The positives are they are easy to work on inside and out and the smaller size and wheels on the back make it easy to move around and transport.

Still have yet to pick up an Atari cab, but from what I know they are built Ford tough and weigh tons. Not sure about electronics, but it seems that there are a lot of unhappy Pole Position owners as mentioned.
