Ok well my machine is a High- Speed System 11 by Williams, the machine had #89's in all the flash lamp sockets when I bought it. My manual say's #63 for flashers, Quatrrohead" is using #67 in his High-Speed flashers and I have been using #89's since ownership of machine. What is the deal? Can someone please explain this? I wanted to get LED flashers and the guy at B.C.S. led said unless I have some sort of upgrade the 89 flashers will ruin the power supply, short it out some on only system 11 machines. I like to know about this acceptance for LED flashers. Thanks.

#63 lamps are 7 volt bulbs
#67 lamps are 13.5 volt bulbs
#89 lamps are 13 volt bulbs

I could see where #89 or #67 would be substantially dimmer than the #63. I could also see them adding a little extra stress on the circuit.....would they ruin it....i doubt it.

You can get #63 lamps at any pinball vendor....Marco, Pinball Resource, Pinball Life, etc. Maybe grab a box next time you need parts. I know a lot of people put #89 lamps in later era Gottlieb machines. The manuals call for #67 lamps. The #89 lamps will blow WAY premature than the #67 lamps.

Wait...wouldn't putting in lamps that are rated under the recommended rating mean that the lamp would blow? How could that harm the machine itself? And if you put in a more demanding bulb, to won't draw more, will it? I thought it would just be more dim as the bulb just receives whatever voltage is being fed to it.

I could be wrong, but I don't know.

So what your saying here is I better get the #63's or I'am just gonna keep on having to replace the #89's more then usual? I have almost own the High Speed almost a year and have only had to replace 2 89's (well actually one but they were wired together so both 89's were out). Please get back to me.

#89 lamps won't blow premature in a circuit that calls for #63 lamps. (but they will in a circuit that calls for #67 lamps).

Now, is it a good idea to run 13 volt lamps in a circuit that calls for 7 volt lamps? I don't know.

A box of 10 #63 lamps is $2.00 from Pinball Life.

Ya I'll go with what Terry has, like his prices on bulbs. 89's are what was in the machine in all flasher sockets when I bought the machine. Thanks Elutz.
