Which arcade games still aren't worth jack after all of these years?

Get back to us in 5 years. The only reason for your point is that the 1UP DL is a new commodity.
From what I understand they make limited runs of these games. And now fools are collecting them like the console stuff and paying crazy money for them.

This is entirely true.

I think it's also true that someone who pays $1500 for a shadow of the original game, in a cabinet which feels like a double layer of cardboard, is more likely to have buyer's remorse than not.

But I admit that is my bias for the original games bleeding through more than fact.

Star Wars pod racers, and virtual on. Both great games but impossible to sell. I had 2 linked virtual on and 2 linked pod racers all fully working. Took forever to sell them and I think I got around $800 for all four.

Oh man, I would love a few pod racer cabinets, but I'd have to basically give up like 10 arcades for the space two podracers take. I think you could pretty much add any really great 2000s racer to this thread, San Francisco Rushes, Hydro Thunder, they're all great games, but you can fit so many more games in the same space, so you usually see these change hands lots, and sell for a song.

Mat Mania
If you look at earnings sheets from arcades in the mid 80's, it was one of the most popular games of the time. Fast forward to now and there are not that many floating around, and almost none that are in very good condition, either through preservation or restoration. With as many people that enjoyed playing it back then, you would think it would be in more demand.

How could you always beat Coco Savage/Savege??? I'd beat him maybe 5 times and then I couldn't touch him.

Agreed that Mat Mania is great and it's sad that they're worth nothing.

I used to know how. I don't anymore.
I do seem to recall changing tactics the 3rd or 4th time through. And always stand below him and punch to knock him down.
Throw him into the ropes twice. ONLY TWICE! Then start over with punching.

If you headlock him 3 times he'll reverse it and shoulder block you to death.

Space Invaders is a definite example of this. Basically impossible to sell a space invaders deluxe for any amount of reasonable money.
I can't believe it. It's such a cool experience in a real cabinet with the black light, mirror effect, and background imagery.

There appears to be an inverse relationship with regard to cabinet size and market price.
As mentioned a few times, most sit down racers and most other cabinets that size or larger fetch a fraction what they should I think.

Oh, and almost any Taito cocktail.
The poor things are like mongrel stepchildren it seems.

Yeah. I have a 4 player Virtua Racing with the 5th Live Monitor on top, and it's easily the most played game I've had. But I'm planning to downsize my house and gameroom in the future, and I'm dreading selling it. I think the chances are pretty good that I end up parting it out because I may get more $ for the 5 nice medium resolution monitors and PCB stacks, than I'll be offered for the whole game.

I've always thought that Space Invaders and Space Invaders Deluxe should be worth way more than they go for. Are the exciting games? They get pretty intense when you're deep into a game. They are visually stunning games to look at, and for that reason alone, they should be worth more. Especially for a minty one.
