I'm no "arcade collector", but I certainly do know a great deal about arcade games. With that being said, here are some of the games that I'd like to find somewhere and just play. This doesn't include any of the games that Funspot has, because I might be going there next year:

Indy 800 (I am obsessed with this game. Once - just once - I'd like to play it. Just once. That's all I ask. Please? Doesn't somebody have one?)

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (No, I've never played the original. I want to, but I can't. Cabinets are scarce and the game doesn't work on MAME.)

Atari Football (I hear it's a blast. Only a few arcades are confirmed to have it, and those are far away (like Luna City and Gold Mine Saloon).)

All laserdisc games, but especially Time Gal and Time Traveler. As far as I know, nobody has a Time Gal unit. At least, not in America.

Super Flipper (Early Pong/video pinball combination. Looks like great fun, but very, very hard to find.)

Baby Pac-Man, Caveman, and Granny and the Gators (The only games to ever combine pinball and video gaming.)

Pong (The original! How many of you have actually played this game in the original arcade form?)

Tempest Tubes (Both this game and the original Tempest run too fast on MAME.)

There are more, but they don't spring to mind right now.

How about you? What are some games you just want to play? :)

baby pacman, granny and the gators, caveman, twilight zone pin, area 51, and battlezone.

thats the short version, really I just want to play so many games its not even funny, but closest collectors are 2 hrs away :(

I remember playing Area 51 when I was little. I'm sure you can find one somewhere... just check the local arcades. :)

hahaaha that would be funny, I live in new york, 6 hours from videotopia and 6 hrs from funspot, 2 hours from collectors

New freaking York!? Are you serious!?

Dude! You live in the big city!

Here's just a few of the arcades in New York:

Astroland Arcade
Barcade
Chinatown Fair
Coney Island Arcade
Dave & Busters'
Deno's Wonderwheel Arcade
El Dorado Arcade
Faber's Fascination
Nathan's Arcade
Sam's Arcade

Oh, and the Wash Club Laundry Center has Area 51. You're welcome. ;)

all of those are like 2 hours away, im 2 hrs from the city. which means dave and busters, CTF, Barcade, Coney Island are 2 hours. the rest i never heard of. And for 2 hours id go to a collectors house and play for free with some beers

yea without a doubt, but you said check local arcades. and I dont have one, nor do I know anyone within 2 hours with a baby pac

Surely you can just drive 2 hours? I mean, really...

As a 14 year old kid driving two hours sounds like fun but as an adult with responsibilities you are talking about a huge undertaking. First off, it is two hours each way. Then you have to factor in the cost of gas, parking, and meal(s). Then you have to consider what other things can you do with the time/money that are more important. Also, are you making this trip alone or with your family? It is not simply a case of drop everything and run off. Being an adult is just not that 'happy go lucky' most of the time...

Who said anything about driving to the arcade every day?

(Oh, and your avatar looks like something out of a Tinto Brass film... ;))

Are you saying that Street Fighter II: The World Warrior doesn't work in MAME, or are you referring to Street Fighter when you say "the original"? Either way, both games work in MAME; and SFII: WW machines are one of the more common machines out there; though finding any old game on location is difficult these days due to the near extinction of arcades in general.

No, Street Fighter II does not work on MAME.

I've tried.

I downloaded sf2.zip, kept it unzipped, and placed it in my "roms" folder.

Nothing.

sf2 works, your missing some roms. Download every sf rom you can find, i have WW, CE, Turbo, Super Turbo, Hyper, and some others.

And yea theres a lot to factor into driving 2 hours. not fun alone, and cost money.

Well, I would love to play Joust pin again (actually I would love to have one so I could play it any time I wanted :)). I would also like to play a Varkon again.

Another rare one that I got hooked on at the Houston show was Quantuum. That was one of those simple to learn and impossible to master games. Major Havok was fun too.

Turkey Shoot was kind of gimmicky (with the flying feathers) but fun.

As to your list:
Indy 800 - Not impressed with driving games, probably because I had a real driver's license by the time they all came out. I have the PC version of this game somewhere, I thought it was a decent port.

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior - played most of them, but there were so many variants I don't remember this one.

Atari Football - This is a blast. You will have your hands in traction after a couple of games from slapping the trackball. MeauxMeaux is rebuilding one, I hope he will bring it to the Houston Arcade Expo (it's playable, just needs some art).

I don't remember Time Gal but Time Traveller gave me a headache. The funky "holographic" effect didn't cut it for me. They had 3 in the arcade at Caesar's Palace in Vegas BITD. (Update: Looked up Time Gal; only released in Japan. Probably why I don't remember it).

Never saw Super Flipper. It looks interesting, if somewhat limited.

Baby Pac-Man, Caveman, and Granny and the Gators. Played them all, Granny was probably the best of the three. You also forgot Revenge From Mars combining video & pin.

Pong - There was one at the last Houston Arcade Show. It was fun playing it again, until somebody stripped the knob and it wouldn't turn the lef paddle anymore :(.

Tempest Tubes - This was a fun addition to Tempest. Much better than gutting them and running raster games in them. I'd love to have a Tempest, someday.

You're doing something wrong then. SFII: WW has worked in MAME for ages; it was one of the first games I got when I discovered MAME in 2002. In fact, every single incarnation of SFII works in MAME. Even SFIII works in MAME. The only Street Fighter game I know of that you can't play in MAME is the new SFIV.

sf2 works, your missing some roms. Download every sf rom you can find, i have WW, CE, Turbo, Super Turbo, Hyper, and some others.

He says he has sf2.zip. That's the only ROM he needs to play SFII: WW, as it is the master ROM. He may have the wrong version of the ROM. It is best to match the ROM version with the version of MAME you are running. Sometimes you can get away with mismatched versions, but other times, it won't work.

Oh, I am not talking about every day. A trip of this magnitude has to be planned, sometimes for months in order to happen. For instance, I traveled to Portland this past Sunday, a three hour trip each way. It was planned for four months and still nearly didn't happen because life (literally a newborn) got in the way. Many of the people I work with and the people on this board would have skipped the trip if the changes I experienced happened to them. It is all about sestting priorities which, unfortunately, at the age of 14 you really know nothing about. I know, I was there once...

I was simply assuming that this guy lives alone and doesn't really have any major priorities. It would certainly depend on what his life is like.

And I could do without the condescending lecture.

Oh, and since it's a personal policy to post all PMs in public...

Stop with the new threads

Seriously, you are just going to piss people off. You are coming off as a troll. Posting one "philosophical" question a day is enough.

Seriously, folks. Don't send me PMs.
