This feels like an arcade 101 (099?) question - but I couldn't find a good answer through the Googles. Trying to "restore" a SF2CE

For 90's era fighters (SF2CE), what arcade buttons are the best to use for a restoration? Is there a particular switch I should use? I want the feel to be good - it doesn't have to be an exact replica from the 90s. Recommendations?

With a wooden CP you're pretty much limited to the Happ style buttons. In my experience the switches don't matter much, I've tried both bottom and top of the range and haven't found them to be much different.

Any buttons will fit and there are some fine vendors on here that sell buttons. Paradise Arcade comes to mind. I'm guessing you'd want microswitch buttons and not leaf buttons...

Happ was original but since you have a metal control panel it seems most competition players prefer the Japanese (Sanwa/Seimitsu) buttons for performance.

The original would have been Happ produced by IL. The microswitches would be the original Cherry micros. You can find these in our store, email us, [email protected] if you have any questions.

Sanwa tend to be very sensistive, but also are less durable.

Seimitsu a little less touchy but more durable than Sanwa.

IL buttons are the most durable. I think an easy way of looking at it is, IL and Happ buttons were designed for commercial application where you install and forget about them until the machine falls apart. Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons were designed for players, and people who play often expect to do some exchanges. Remember though that Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons are slightly larger at 30mm.

I bit the bullet and purchased from Paradise Arcade - little paranoid about shipping though, it's been 2 days and no update on when it will ship. Should I expect some sort of confirmation that the buttons have shipped?
