I'm trying to determine which 6116 ram to get. This specifically is for a Time Soldiers PCB

Its not the wide 6116, but I don't know which of the other 2 it would be for sure:

The chip says 6116ASP-12
The label on the board says: 6116ALSP-12
The schematics just say: 6116 120ns

I'm trying to pick between these 2:

I'm not seeing mine on the cross-reference site

Label is barely hanging on:

Thanks for the assist

From what I can tell, the difference between the two rams you link to is the access time of the chips and manufacturer. The 6116, which according to the link you provided, is actually a IDT6116SA35TP, has an read/access time of 35ns. Where as the link for the MB8416A-15 has an read/access time of 150ns.
Your board says 120ns. Will the 150ns chip work? With only a difference of 30ns... Most likely. Will the 6116 work? Sure. I would say either one would work, unless someone else can chime in to dispute that.

Most of the time the specific RAM speeds were chosen intentionally. Other times, there is a certain built-in margin. Unless you know, go with the rated speed. Occasionally, faster RAM will also cause issues.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but can you give an example where a faster RAM causes issues?

A lot of games have sloppy address decode that can cause spurious writes to RAM if it's too fast.

Putting a FRAM into Pacman to replace the 2114s is problematic on many boards due to timing hazards introduced by the SBC.

Well, I had something all typed out, then I saw HudsonArcade's response. So, I'll just say Ditto.

My response had more info about computers and general circuts.

Not "original" appearing but allows more options:

...along with:

Chipquik also has adapters for SMD IC's but I didn't dig that deep for this specific installation.

@Onji I need to check later tonight, but I'm pretty sure I have some 6116 ram that I used in Out Run repairs. If I find a spare I can send one to you. I'm just not sure on the brand or speed ATM, since I'm not in front of it.

[Edit: Here's a pic of what I have]

I'll check my chip stock as well. I don't recall having one, but I might. I have so many parts, might as well see!

Very kind of you guys. I did go ahead and grab a couple from apar. Really appreciate tho! Love this community
I checked. I have some 4116 but no 6116. Glad you went with APAR.
