Good Guy Alert: Pete Mathis!
I bought two of the 60in1(a) boards and Pete and I started working on two cabinets to get them running. The first cabinet, "Devastators" had a bad monitor, but the spare 19" monitors all had issues or never turned on at all. After hours of work, we switched gears and took a "Dragon Spirit" and made it work great. The most interesting "mod" was taking an old computer power supply to feed the 60in1 board since the "Dragon Spirit" power supply wasn't feeding enough to get the 60in1 to fire up correctly (Pete's idea and it worked awesome). Therefore, we have a great looking 19" system ready to roll.
However, the was a 2nd system that started coming together - an old "Raiden" cabinet. Knowing that the monitor on in the "Raiden" machine was shot, Pete grabbed a monitor and plugged it in. Our eyes melted as we saw the beautiful, bright and flawless display come to life. This was an amazing picture and the set acted like a newborn tube - crisp and clean! The only downside is that the dynamo cabinet is butt- ugly! Pete spent another day fixing up that machine (and tweaking the other) to get them to both work, look sharp and play great. Which would you choose?
1. GREAT BIG MONITOR and crappy cabinet? (left)
2. Small great monitor and BEAUTIFUL CABINET? (right)
It's a win-win in my book, but it's a tough decision. Either way, Pete keeps the better system! Pete's know-how, guidance (I'm new to this) and patience in this project earns him a gold star. So. Which one would you choose and why?
