It's been a while since I shipped anything overseas.

USPS has cut out their International Surface mail. You can only choose Priority or Express.
The best cost I've seen to ship a 12 lb control panel to Germany is $60.

FedEx, DHL, and UPS are worse. MUCH worse.

Any other options? I fully expect the buyer to bail after seeing this. I've got another control panel that's supposed to be going to Italy....

if someone wants something really bad, he's going to go for it, no matter what (and believe me: being from germany i know what i'm talking about ;)). i always ask the seller to take the package to the post office and ask there, most of the time it's cheaper than the prices you get when inquiring online. still, sending stuff overseas IS expensive, that's something we europeans have to live with :(

The buyer came back with a address in the states. I guess it's a friend who can forward it or something.

I've had pretty good luck with shipping items overseas in the past. Sometimes opening up to worldwide shipping can really bring out the bids! There's not much additional hassle shipping overseas either. Just one additional piece of paperwork- it's been a while now since I've done it.

I'm also waiting to see if a guy from Italy will kick out $58 shipping for something similar.

Boardsets are much less of an issue. A lot lighter.

I always get requests from overseas to ship USPS Priority Express. It seems to be the cheapest route. Usually folks overseas don't mind paying the bit extra so long as it's packaged to survive the trip.
