Where To Get Xbox Modded - MAME

probably, there's a list of compatible cards in one of the threads in the forum I linked you to but I believe if it uses the Catalyst drivers then it should be good.

I usually recommend the HD4xxx series just because it's the newest ATi Cards that are supported, and even the highest end models in that series are dirt cheap on the used market.

Looking around the site I found ,

- CRT Emudriver, based on Catalyst 6.5 XP-32: 200 modes
- CRT Emudriver, based on Catalyst 6.5 XP-64: 120 modes
- CRT Emudriver, based on Catalyst 9.3 XP-32/64: 120 modes
- CRT Emudriver, based on Catalyst 13.1 W7-64: 120 modes

So I'm pretty sure the card I have will work . If it doesn't I'll get the card you suggested .

This will be great , finally emulation that doesn't suck for the early 80's games !

Ok I figured out the problem with the games running too fast , its the coin ops 6 emulator .

Theres another emulator called MAME-X and when I play the 80's classics with that emulator the games run very close to the correct speed , so close I don't think it will bother me . Also coin ops 6 I don't believe will let me remap the buttons but MAME-X will .

Now I'm starting to feel happy I bought this .

I was playing some games like Mr.Do , Mspacman and Defender and they were playing good .

You should upgrade to CoinOPS 7 (CO7). CO6 should let you remap the controls.

In CO6, press start, and then go to settings, press right trigger to go thru the advanced settings (not sure which page), and enable the option to "remap default gamepad".

In a game, press white and back button simultaneously to bring up menu, and then remap.

Cool thanks , I got into settings and turned screen skip from automatic to off . Pretty sure that fixed the speed issue in Coin Ops 6 .

I found the remap default gamepad , enabled it , but when I hit the black and white buttons during a game nothing happens , no screen appears . So still can't change the buttons .

Is there a way to flip the Coin Ops Menu to go vertical ? Like in a vertical monitor cab ? I found you can flip the games to vertical but not sure about the whole menu system .

Press the BACK and White button in game, not BLACK and White.

For vertical, there is a CO TATE which just came out. It's at backups.me.

Don't get me wrong, PC and MAME is a more complete approach, but don't shake a stick at a modded Xbox - it's pretty slick.

The original Xbox is definitively the easiest and best console to mod for multi-game setups, hands down. Period. SHIT tons of homebrew stuff for it.

I agree 100% on both points :)

Awesome thanks , I got it to work ,

But I made a huge mistake !!

"Under Exit game" setting , I assigned the back button by itself , so every time I hit "white" + "back" I exit the game . So I can't get into the menu , it just exits the game every time I try .

How do you reset ALL buttons to default ?

You mean in an individual game, or in the CO6 settings?

If in an individual game, you might be stuck with that game. If in the CO6 settings, which would affect all games, then try to change it back.

Or...upgrade to CO7 and it will take care of it anyway, and give you the latest features.

I emailed the guy I bought it from , he said if I had any issues contact him . Hopefully he knows a way to fix it .

I have a modded 360 with a 1TB HD. but it was hard modded not just software.

When I used to mod Xboxes, the biggest drive I ever put in was a 300GB. It seemed huge at the time. The worst problem with the Xbox is the fastest speed it can read it is 66 and that's only if you put on better HD cables.

Most of mine were more show pieces and had lights all over them. They were great for MAME and to emulate consoles. I stopped doing it because there wasn't any way to compete with guys that soft modded. When I used to do it I would go through and resolder the power board, replace the areo gel cap and clean the boards. Then replace the belt on the drive and clean the laser. Then I installed a mod chip and setup the HD. It usually took me around 5 to 10 hours to get it all done. It depended how much was wrong and how much needed loaded on the HD.

I finally gave up when my health went south.
