Im slowly converting a game I picked up back to Qbert, but Im having a really tough time finding reproduction art online. I picked up a marquee from a KLOVer, so I dont need that. Anyone know of anywhere to get this stuff? Thanks!

Bezel (on plexi, but there is no glass repro anyways):

http://mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=BEZELQBERT

eBay'er in Canada with the front art (NOS if claim is to be believed):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/GOTTLIEB-Q-...587?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item2a06be4a4b

Same guy used to have CPOs also. But he seems to be out of them now. I have one of them and it looks great, colors seem a lot nicer than the repro.

phoenixarcade.com has the swearing marquee repro, not sure who has the normal version in stock anymore these days.

EDIT n/m, I see you have the marquee.

Thanks! I stumbled about that ebay auction a couple days ago, but Im going to find it hard to justify spending that much just on the lower art. Might have to break down and buy it though.

Eh, yeah, I didn't replace mine. Didn't need it, and in my mind the only good way to redo that part is to cut new pieces of wood from melamine. Too much work for too little result.

Mine is actually totally gone, but Ill just wait around until I find a decent deal. The only evidence that it was a Qbert is the yellow paint, so I have a lot to find. Im planning on runing Mame like this guy: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=254343&highlight=qbert

My control panel has extra buttons drilled out of it anyway,so I plan on buying an original cp and swapping later.

You should at least try the "make an offer" on the eBay art. That guy was accepting crazy low offers for awhile.

That guy burned me for a set of CPO's. I ordered two of them and a marquee and he only sent one and a marquee. I brought it to his attention and he said he'd make it right....but after 4 months and a bunch of e-mails he didn't... :(

Ill try and avoid him then. I might try and pick up g3n3r1c's spare lower art but Im not in a huge hurry to get one. I wont be able to strip the cabinet down for awhile anyway.

The only thing you should know about MAMEing a Q*Bert is that a lot of the sound on Q*Bert is analog and it can't really be accurately reproduced. Q*Bert, Sam, Slick, Ugg and Wrong Way make some pretty crazy sounds and all of that is analog. Also, I don't know whether there are a set number of "phrases" that these charachters say or whether they just spit out random jibberish (in different pitches depending on the character).

I know that they were working on this in MAME trying to lock it down but I'm not sure they ever got there. In my experience, even whe they can accurately "emulate" the analog sounds in MAME they still don't sound the same because they aren't being pushed through the analog hardware that seems to color the sound in a certain way.

Some people really don't care about this type of thing but to me the sound is one of the coolest things about the game.
