Where can I get a good price on generic black control panel overlays? I saw a guy on ebay is selling a 24x30something inch piece of it for like 10 bucks.
Is there a store online that sells this stuff?

It's thin (10 mil), but I was quite happy using this stuff and you can't beat the price for the amount you get:

I used it on three swappable control panels I had for my old MAME cabinet, and it worked fine for my use. Plus, I used it on the front of both my Outrun mini and my generic Dynamo cab. After all that, I still have some leftover.

Just be warned. Using something thin like this on a metal panel is one thing, but over wood like the cab fronts is another. That wood better be perfectly flat because this thin stuff WILL show every tiny imperfection.

Here are some pics of it...

I have to say I'm surprised the Parts Express stuff is 10 mil thick which is what I'm seeing a lot of the overlays are as well. Always seemed a bit thinner to me, but what the hell do I know.

I had purchased that same material from Parts Express years ago and finally found a use for it when I used it on a StarGate Control panel I hack for a friend to use with MAME.

That looks like painted wood. Is that the texture of the film?

No, I don't know why his looks like that. You can see what the texture looks like on the Parts Express website. They show a close up in that link I put in my earlier post.

I don't remember the part number, but the roll I picked up has a slight texture.(But it looks good). It is actually sold for use on speaker cabinets.

I just checked the back and it says "Shanghai Joyous Decorative Material Co., LTD".

(So we now know where they get it from).
