I'm not sure if this is the right place to be posting this if so sorry I'm still new here and getting used to it. But can anyone tell me where I can get a working GO7 tube for a Galaga arcade machine? The one I have has bad burn in.

People get replacement tubes from old TV's. The trick is finding one that is compatible. This is called a tube swap, and learning how to do one it's part of this hobby, because there are generally no places where you can just click and buy a new replacement tube. So your choices are finding another whole monitor, or finding a compatible tube.

Search for 'G07 tube swap' (in thread titles) to find more about it.

Here, I'll do the search for you.

Finding used TV's in the wild is becoming difficult. Trying to pry one from a hoarder is also difficult. Tubes can be had. You just have to put in the time and be patient.

What do you mean by shoot you a pm. Do you mean like a message? Sorry I'm not use to that way of speaking.
PM is short for "Personal Message". Sometimes referred to as DM or "Direct Message". (No worries, we all learn at different times).

As for the tube, I'd agree that it should be fine (even with burn in) for the following reasons:
  1. You won't see it with the dark tint (Galaga and Ms. Pac-man/Pac-man cabinets have it by design).
  2. You have a perfect game that has black space in the background.
  3. Burn-in is more noticeable in white screens. Win-WIn.
That said, if you REALLY wanted to swap it out. I could always help you do it since I'm fairly local, assuming you're in the NYC retro area. It's not for the faint of heart though, since you probably need to swap the original yoke from the back of the tube and bring it over to the donor burn-free tube. Then you need to converge everything to look right. (And it will probably end up getting burned in over time anyway). The only reason for a tube swap is for a broken tube on Galaga IMHO.

My advice:
  1. Stick with your tube.
  2. Do a cap kit on the chassis.
  3. Then line up the burn in when you are dialing in your monitor.
  4. Put the tinted plexi over it as it was designed, and it will look great!
