Where to find a replacement width coil for Sharp XM2001 (Playchoice)

I recapped the chassis in my Playchoice and the picture is fantastic! However, the width coil is stuck and it's a tiny bit narrow. However, I can't seem to find a replacement anywhere. Anyone have any ideas?

I still plan on pulling it out of the chassis sometime this week and gently trying to get it functional again but I figured I'd try to locate a replacement just in case.

I don't know if this will help, I had the same problem, I tried looking for one for a monitor (different model) and couldn't find one anywhere, what I did was I unsoldered the width coil from the board, I put some WD-40 on it and let it sit, after I got a good look I could see someone had stripped the front end of the slug, so I carefully took it out from the other side with a plastic tool, I was able to take it completely out, I then turned it around so the bad stripped side was facing the rear and I screwed it back in through the front (after cleaning the insides well with a q-tip and alcohol)

Works great now.

I think I'm going to try to pull the chassis back out this weekend and see if I can get it free without damaging it. I'll try fluctuating the temperature of the part first and if that doesn't work I'll try your WD-40 method next :).

Thanks for the info, I'll post an update once I do it.

I've repaired a few of these monitors.. Coils were ok, but all of them had desoldered themselves from the chassis over the years.. Reflowed and they worked!

At least 3 of the solder joints were visibly bad when I recapped the chassis so I re-flowed all of the solder joints on the coil at that time. Sadly, I didn't even think of checking to see if the coil was stuck until after I had re-installed the chassis. I'm hoping I can get some time tonight or tomorrow to pull it back out.

SUCCESS!!! I pulled the chassis and desoldered the coil tonight. I was able to get it moving relatively easily after simply wiggling it back and forth for a minute with my plastic hex tool. I think the big difference was it having warmed up inside vs being cold in the garage when I tried the first time. So I guess it was stupid simple after all and next time I encounter a stuck width coil when it's cold in the garage I'll let it warm up a bit inside before trying it again ;).

Thanks for the replies guys!
