I'm sick of the burn-in on my 19" monitor. Where's a good place to buy a new one (or a used one without burn-in)?

thanks,

here.

they don't make 19" monitors anymore I don't think, like, at all. I remember a couple years ago one of my friends like raided Happ for whatever they had on a huge sale they ran. :D

but yeah, look on here. you can either post in the Want section or you can hunt around the sale section. chances are you'll find something. otherwise the popular alternative with the geeks on here is finding a 19" TV and swapping a matching tube in.

re last post
arcadeshop only has kortek, they have been shown via my experience and the klov groups experience as crap that does not work right or is even able to be fixed

8liners.com sells new and used. Have not bought one yet but I might pull the trigger. There is also a guy on ebay that sells them.

Wait, all of them are LCD except the Imperial Kortek. But there's no info about it... is it 15Khz? What about a chassis? Will it work with ms. pac-man directly or do i need to mod it? wish there were more info :(

I got a 19" Kortek from arcadeshop last week and I'm putting it in my Gaplus. The metal sides that hold the monitor do not have holes to hold the metal arms for the smoked bezel/overlay plexiglass. So I'm modding them to have the correct holes. Otherwise seems like a good replacement. My harness connector went right to the flyback with no changes. But...I haven't turned anything on yet.

The 8 liners chassis thing seems to be the best bet for anyone with a crappy monitor that wants a new one.

Remove the tube and chassis from your existing monitor frame. On the curb, at a thrift store, etc..find a 19" TV, not a 20", with a good, dark, burn free tube. Swap that tube into the arcade monitor frame. Follow the instructions here:

http://www.8liners.com/datatech/monitor.html

and have a basically new monitor for way under $100.

Just a heads up... I was going to buy a chassis from 8liners last week and he wanted $90 shipped. So it's no longer "way" under $100. :(

I also tried to order a chassis from Alva, but after sending two emails(from different email addresses) and getting no response, I gave up for now.

You have to telephone Alva Amusement to order.

Rodotron, Jen Shinn, Wei-ya, Ming Dong, still make brand new CRT monitors as well as universal replacement chassis boards.

$90 huh.. I suppose it's still a reasonably priced solution and I'm not so sure the quality would be worse than the cheap-o late model new monitors were.

19 kor

the 19" kortek has a horrid wiggle in the pic when it gets warm /hot and no one here or at kortek has been able to fix it other than to keep replacing chassis till one works but it takes like 3 tries on average.
