[VG walks up on stage, pics up mic:] "tap tap tap... is this thing on?? ***loud ear-piercing screech*** An Op and Hawkfan walk into a bar............" [fade]

Hey all, yeah, I'm still here- sorry for the radio silence. Life's still doing a great job of giving me a rectal exam using multiple fingers and no glove, but hopefully in the next month or so things will start to turn around for me.

My apologies to all who were trying to reach me while I was offline.

In the interim, I am happy to say that I have not abandoned this hobby by any means. I did start to walk down the dark path in some sense though: I have given up on bringing my Monaco GP Cockpit back to life, and am in the process of converting it into a PP MAME game (I can almost hear everyone running away as I type those 4 letters). A coworker donated a 19" monitor to me, I loved PP as a kid, and even while I'm in the process of wiring it up, my daughter is already deeming it the game she's going to play more than any of the others (she's been playing it right off of the keyboard I'm using to test the game with!).

Nonetheless, I'm still here. Thanks to all who wondered where I'd gotten off to!

VG.

Good to know you're OK, vintagegamer... one can never assume these things.

Just remember to keep the old parts and don't hack up the cab for your MAME driver. Not a bad idea and you never know if you'll be able to fix it later. Right now I'm almost wishing I didn't have my Mame cab if only to have a JAMMA six button cab for my Shadow Force PCB.

Thanks ifkz- I have a feeling this will probably be the only cockpit game I'll ever get to own in this lifetime, and it's been heartbreaking to walk out to the garcade and see pretty much every game out there light up but this one. It would power up, but watching a game with a messed up attract mode that won't coin up is damned depressing. I did give it my best, and at least I have a way to turn it into something that I know will be appreciated in my home. The kids are already chomping at the bit to play PP (as am I), and when you hear the "bip.. bip.. bip... BEEP!" attract mode, it really makes you perk your ears up.

I'm hoping I can pull off the conversion without having to go on blood pressure meds LOL.
