I play this game a lot in MAME. I like it. It's hard as hell. Sort of a vertical scrolling Galaga game with some elements of Bosconian thrown in (it has those space stations in it). It's a 1989 game from NAMCO.

I never hear anyone talk about it. What's the deal with Blast Off? Is it a conversion/board only? Was there a dedicated cab? Anyone own one? I love this game.

I see Apollo had one at one time. Does he still have it?

I am really starting to regret selling my Dragon Spirit cab. That thing could have become a cool System 1 PCB/MARQUEE/CP swap out cab.

If you haven't played this game, you need to. One of the best games of it's type that there is.

Fire it up in MAME.

It's interesting. It's almost like this was meant to be the official sequel to Bosconian (especially based on the sounds)...but it's a little more Galaga than Bosconian. At least, from what I've played so far.

Yeah, for sure. According to Wikipedia, this the Bosconian sequel. Besides the Space Stations, I don't really see it. It's more Galaga for sure.

It misses that great fly in any direction and shoot stuff that makes Bosco so much fun :( To me it's just a pretty decent scroller but it's no Bosconian.
