When you have a game that's down and it's waiting for a part to be ordered, a monitor rebuilt, etc, where do you put it? Does it stay at its reserved location in the lineup? Or is it removed and transported to a "quarantine" area to prevent it from bleeding its bad karma to your other games?

Currently I have 3 games in a repair status, and they are on the far wall of the Garcade, currently known as the "Wall of Shame". That's going to change though once the Coke machine gets relocated there.

I put an "out of order" tag on them and leave them in their place. I then set about fixing them ASAP, and have never let a game stay "down" for more than a few days.

If a game breaks that resides in the "gameroom", it gets moved to the "overflow" area and replaced with a working machine. If a game breaks in the "overflow" area, it stays there until fixed.

Currently all my games work in the gameroom. If it's a fave game (like Robotron) that dies, it stays there until it's fixed. Other games (like Kangaroo) might move to storage if I don't have a lot of time to work on it at the moment, and I'll pull one out to take it's place. I need to pull the Wheel of Fortune out and bring Q*Bert in, and I have a Frogger that wants to sit next to my Carnival, too...

I have a huge garage where all the 'yet to be restored' machines reside. I have only had one game die in the game room. It was a heavy barrel conversion in a Centuri cab that I had picked up cheap. The monitor died after a week. I do move games from the gameroom to the garage, but it usually because they are sold or I am sick of them. If I move them from the garage to the gameroom, they have just been restored.

I have two that are in time out right now on the other side of the basement, but I have two fellow klov brothers that are coming to help me whip them back into shape.

I pull mine out and set them next to the [to get to list] of games in the garage.I just hate seeing a dead one if seems like a real downer to me and brings the mood down.

i actually just leave them in their spot, as i don't have a lot of space. regardless, i probably wouldn't move them, as it's quite a pain in the ass. the only time i've moved a game was when i had my super breakout. the board was fubar'd and i couldn't get it fixed, so i got it into the garage and eventually sold it.

I moved Paperboy to quarantine when it died on me yesterday. Galaxian took its place for now until I can find a day to spend on it. I think the ARIII pooped out on me.

my deal with my wife is that if it's in the house, it's working or will be working very soon. if a game is going to be down for any significant length of time it goes out to the garage and gets swapped out for a game that works.

once i have my dedicated space this won't be as much of an issue as only a couple of cabs will remain in the house and the rest'll be out in the garage anyway.

Me too, but of course I've only been dealing with these for a year or two.
If it's in the gameroom and down and I can't get it fixed in a week or two, then to the timeout corner it goes. Even if there is an open spot left behind.
Worse thing to happen is someone ask's "Is this working?" and I have to say "No".
Big downer as I fell it reflects on my abilities to get it back up.
Personal thing I guess.
