I'm looking for the 3pin connector that gives AC to many monitors. I think they're .093" (but might be bigger) and when you hold it vertically, the shapes of the pins look like:
D
O
D

I found different 3 pin molex on mouser.com and jameco.com, but not the right one.

thanks!

usually I just email bob roberts and figure he knows everything (typically he does) I also go to frys and look.

[email protected] if you haven't had contact with him before.

You want the .093" Molex. They have a kit available (item number 538-wm-50, which is panel mount only, but has the crimp tool and 100 male and 100 female pins). The page for all of the Molex in this style is:

http://www.mouser.com/catalog/catalogUSD/644/1591.pdf

I've seen monitors that use the free-hanging and panel connectors (Wells Gardners in both, actually). The kits come in handy when wiring control panels, though the .062" is probably a better bet. If you page through, you can find other sizes of molex from there, as well (and other connector brands). Good luck!

thanks for the advice. I actually went to Fry's yesterday and I didn't see them on Bob's page (when making a list for another order from him). I tried to read the mouser page, but couldn't find the one I wanted and it doesn't match any of the pics.

but thanks!

Cheapest place for Molex and Amp pins and sockets (.62, .84, .93) is Bob Roberts (Especially this month in January where he has lots of 100 for $5 instead of $6.

Cheapest place for the nylon housings: GreatPlainsElectronics. They are moderately cheaper than Bob -- AND you can buy them without the matched pins, meaning they come empty and then you fill in how many you need rather than getting them with full set of pins from Bob (at a higher price since he has to count them all out for each)

Also GPE carries both the lower amp housings as well as the higher amp ones (used with the trifurcon pins) that withstand more heat. But on the flip side, GPE charges over twice as much as Bob on the pins, but does have some special pins for even higher amp feeds that Bob doesn't carry.

Shipping is cheap, starting at $2 from GPE instead of Bob's $9 flat starting point.

Buy from both in advance, and definitely stock up on pins from Bob this month!

Finally, core items like resistors and diodes are significantly cheaper from GPE.. 4 cents for many small resistors vs. 25 cents from Bob.

It is a good thing that you did your research, because you should go with... "The cheapest that I have found is". Bob and Ed are both great guys, but are far from the cheapest.

That's NOT a Molex brand connector. It is Tyco/AMP brand.

Okay, cheapest *I* have found causally looking at various sites over time. So, where's the secrete stash of 1 cent AMP/Molex pins in small quantity? :)

Confused? Bob has all pins/sockets for $6 regularly for 100 and $5 for the month of January, making them 5 cents a pin/socket vs. 10 cents of TWA and 10-12 at GPE?

I guess I consider 100 'small quantity' not simply singles. There are other things interesting at TWA so definitely thanks for the link!
