I'm working on a 2nd Golden Tee pedestal, and I need to cover the artwork on the control panel top. I'd like to use the same type of material that I.T. used on its control panels. It's a very durable & scratch resistant material. The top side has what I believe the industry folks call a "velvet" texture. The bottom side is smooth, allowing the artwork to show through.

What's this stuff called? Where do I buy it?

I looked into this stuff a while back, I though you had to use some sort of solvent on the plastic to get this affect. It's possible that it is sold like that too, but I don't know where.

This makes sense. There's also the possibility that it could be a spray-on coating too, like some kind of hard shell polyurethane. That would give a slight texture too.

My local glass company is looking into it for me.

Pretty sure 3M makes a textured Polycarbonate over-laminate...

They do. It's Lexan 8B35. But that's a flexible roll material, meant for use in laminating artwork. Thickest I've seen is 30mils, which is .03 inches. I need something in the 3-4mm range, which would be like 125mils. Not happening in that product.

I'm looking for flat sheet stock (like plexiglass) with the same velvet style finish used on the control panels on Bags, Silver Strike, and Golden Tee cabs made by I.T.

I don't believe it's a spray, I've gotten a ton of these used over the years and after years of play, they wear smooth in the areas around the ball... so if it were a spray coating you'd see an edge or something in the wear, but it just wears the texture down smooth. So it's either made that way (with the texture) or they spray something on it that affects it and slightly disturbs the surface itself making the texture.
