Where can I get replacement security torx screws for MK cabinet?

I picked up a Killer Instinct cab that had been converted to Tekken 3 that I'm converting to MK. Actually, it'll be MK 1 through 4 with a Jamma switcher but that's for another thread later ;).

Anyway, the CP screws have the black finish worn off of them and I was trying to find replacements but am having trouble finding them. These are the ones that require a security torx bit.

twisted quarter/eBay (ebay ofcourse is the better deal but best to buy in large amounts)

seriously tho, the last thing you want to do is convert a KI to MK

Thats ok, I just placed my 3rd big order with them this month while working on my MK1 and MK2 restos. Wish I could have just thought about everything I would need from the start and save on all that extra shipping. I'm sure i'll remember something else in 2 weeks.

I bought it thinking it was an MK cab although the operator was honest upfront and said he wasn't sure. It turned out to be KI and I felt a bit hesitant about it at first but then I was never really into KI so I decided to continue. I'd be willing to trade anyone local for an MK cab (doesn't matter which one) but I don't see that happening.

I managed to strip about 95% of the paint from one side today and the original artwork is even in pretty good shape.

I'd trade you, but my mk1 still needs the rest of the cab stripped and i just picked up a KI1 that was converted to tekken tag myself (there's pics on my user page). your art looks to be in good shape, some slight touch ups and it would be mint it looks.

KI (especially the 1st) is a much more valuable cabinet than say a mk1/2 as they are far far more common.

here's a vid of how i stripped my cab and you can see how the art on my machine looked.

I have a Radikal Bikers cabinet that is a factory conversion of a MK4.

Please trade with me, it would be a terrible shame if that cabinet were converted!

Nice video! Most of the dings/damage are in the black areas so that should be quite easy to touch up. There is a thin scratch in the artwork where someone took something sharp and carved a jagged line a few inches long but it's so thin I would imagine it should clean up nice as well.

Man, you guys are really making me feel guilty about this ;). If you're serious and don't mind making the 4 hour drive to Wilmington, MA, I would definitely consider trading in order to preserve this cabinet. As long as your cab is in as good structural condition (I don't care as much about stuff that is easily replaced or stripping paint, etc.).

I started a project thread here: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?p=2239625

I am glad these guys got to you fast. I also appreciate your willingness to consider trades for that cabinet. It would be a sin to convert that machine, even to a Mortal Kombat.

This is one of those situations where being new to the hobby I simply didn't realize that KI cabs weren't common and possibly desired. I totally get the preservation side of the hobby and look forward to restoring a few cabs myself. Granted, most of my favorite games are early-mid 90's as opposed to the 70's-80's stuff so the ones I restore probably won't be as valuable or sought after, but I'm excited about it ;). The first actual restore I'm going to do is my MVS cab. I have plans to make it look brand new when I'm done with it ;)

In the case of a trade, I was originally trying to get an MK cab to put my MK 1-4 boards in so I actually PREFER the trade in this case.

Thanks for the encouragement :)

I only have 1 pre 90's game (complete) and that's my robotron, honestly i bought it in terrible shape and specifically for the boards (to put in my smash tv), I couldn't bring myself to do it. I've got the robotron almost 100% restored now. I also appreciate your willingness to preserve the game as well.

It'll be great to have you around on the forum

Thanks! With arcades dying left and right I feel strongly about preserving what I enjoyed so much during my childhood and teenage years.

Wish you were closer.... I would trade you my MK... ::(
This was the biggest reason I thought it would be hard to find a trade. I'm sure there are people out there, but the odds of someone being local would be slim. Although Tighe is about 4 hours away so that might work out. I'm sure some of that will depend on how the artwork underneath comes out.

When you live in Texas, 4 hours is nothing.. I drove 6 hours to pick up an NBA Jam TE, 4 hours to pick up an MK4, 3 hours to pick up my TMNT, and 2 hours each for SF2, PC10, and just did Golden Tee last week... I drive practially 1 hour to work and then back everyday... Just do it... lol

Ugh 4 hours. I do want it, but 4 hours. What is left of ki1?

The artwork under the Radikal Bikes artwork is not salvageable, looks like the factory took steel wool to the MK4 art before applying the Radikal Bikers artwork.

While I really would like to make this trade as I love this game, It is more important that it not be converted. :D

I will have to take some better photos of this cabinet, all I have are crappy:

LOL, sorry, when I said that it "depends on how the art underneath comes out" I meant on the KI cab ;). The artwork on the MK4 cab doesn't really matter since I already bought all new CP artwork (overlay/front/sides), T-Molding, and would have to eventually purchase side artwork if I stuck with the KI cab anyway. I'm completely good with the MK4/Radical Bikers cab as long as it's just as structurally sound, which so far it looks like it is :).

After putting some time into working on this cab, I'm getting kinda of excited about the idea of it being restored even though I'm probably not going to be the one finishing the restoration. It just feels good to be a part of the restoration :). Hopefully I'll get the CP sides/front and maybe the other side stripped this weekend.

So, it's official, I have decided that I WILL NOT convert this cabinet to MK. Even if for some unforeseen reason the trade didn't work out, it just wouldn't feel right at this point :). Worst case, I would build a new CP so I could drop in MK2 or UMK3 for a while and get some play time in while I waited for an affordable KI PCB to pop up for sale which I could use to complete the restoration and sell it to someone looking for one. So, thanks to you guys, it's safe ;)

Thanks for the support and encouragement!

+1 your doing the right thing, i hope the trade does work out for the both of you, i know both cabinets would be in the right hands and well taken care of.

Yes, the right thing indeed. And this thread also makes me happy. Now, if I could just find someone willing to let a KI cab go locally...........
