Hello and thanks for replying, I'm rebuilding a Sega/Gremlin G-80 power supply Part#800-0128, I already replaced the caps, Thanks.

you could look at the datasheets and see if you can sub the 2n3904 and 2n3906 for the 2n4401 and 2n4403 if not the originals are pretty common and cheap on the market.

I'll check out the data sheet, If you have any of the originals on the list I'll buy them, Thanks.

I'm guessing that you're not happy with the alternative supply you've been using?

the tip125, 126, and 127 i have in my repair shop but not on my site so if you need 1 or 2 just buy that many extra TIP120 on my site and send a note and i will sub in the 125.

i looked and the only thing i have in my repair shop are the lm340-t5 and lm340-t12 which are 5v and if i recall the the 320's are 5.2v or something like that.

i looked at the 3906 and 3904 as subs but they are only 200ma and the 4401 is 600ma so i wouldn't use those without verifying the circuit they are in. i can get the 4401 and 4403 but it usually takes a week or two.

I believe that is a part of my sound problem, I've tested almost everything? Using my non-working cage set and the original p. supply i get noise but no picture, Using the vector board i get picture but no sound, The -5 volts on the vector board are ranging 11.5, I didn't notice any adjustment pots on the replacement board...Rebuilding the original p.supply seems like the only alternative at the moment.

If the -5 is truly measuring at +11.5 there is something seriously wrong there. And I would imagine that a lot of your RAM would have a problem with that (and not work right).

As I mentioned in PM I used a VL ATX adapter in a Star Trek for the games supply voltages but used the factory power supply as an audio amp. You could do the same if theres enough room in the cab for both supplies.

Also, see attached pic for the location of the VL ATX adapter's volume control.

How many LED's are lit up under the power harness connector on your VL board?

EDIT: Since you have sound noise with the original supply you can rule out bad speaker/volume control in the cab.

Hello, how can I use the original power supply with the vector labs adapter? What do I have to Connect or disconnect? The g-80 games use the -5 and mines is very low..

Remeasure that -5 from the VL board. If its +11 like you mentioned above that board is bad and should get replaced.

In order to use both supplies this is all you have to do.

Connect the VL board so that it powers the card cage via the 10 pin connector. All other connections on the factory supply can stay in place (AC to transformer and what not). Connect the audio output from the card cage to the factory supply. Connect the speaker output from the factory supply to the speaker harness.

Done deal.

I'm basically only using the vector adapter for powering the cage along with the computer p. Supply?
