Hey, I got an old pac-man cabinet that was converted to a bally sente, then to POW. I was going to try to restore it to an original pacman. I refuse to by the decals for it, since it was originally painted with stencils. Does anyone know where I can get a set? PM me, I am new to this hobby, but I already understand that certain parties control the rights to all things pacman and galaga. Thanks.

If you find out let me know. I have 3 Pac cab that are ready for new art.

I too have been searching for stencils or side art scans so I could vector them, also the ones posted are not correct and have alot of problems but hopefully someone will find something

I found some stencils

I found one set of stencils. I see some of you are interested in them. Do any of you know how we can take this one set and make others?

Sorry, I didn't know the stencils in the link I posted as a reply had problems. Disregard then...

dont worry its not your fault, from what i have read those are from like 2000 or 2001 and were made from using a very small picture of the art, like i said im hoping to either find some or find some good scans to make my own

I have a set of corrected ones that i bought about a year or two ago. I have a pacman but may get rid of the stencils since i dont have the work area to do it. PM me if interested.

You might check with KLOV member Prok as well.

If he's got them you'll be happy with the quality, trust me.

Its harder to do stencils on a cab vs. stickers ..but I think that helps the game retain more of that original feel.

thats true for pacman and early ms pacman since the art work was stenciled or whatever the term is

Robotron, Defender, Pac, MsPac, Space Invaders, early EM & B/W vids... tons of great games that were stenciled out there. I love the simple style of stenciled on artwork.

depends on if they are correct or not if they are like the ones posted above then they have errors read this blog post to learn more http://www.rotheblog.com/2007/12/arcade/local-arcade-pac-man-sideart-inaccurate/

Correct or not does not have any bearing on if they can be duplicated or not.. Rtree1, no, you cannot take a set of vinyl stencils and remake more from them unless you have the files that made them originally. You could scan and re-vectorize, but you might as well just go off a cab if you are going to go that route.

And the set you are getting are not from local arcade.

I remember hearing that Namco really cracked down on people making repro stencils for the PAC games.
Like, as in lawsuits and the whole 9 yards...
Just what I heard, but that would explain the curious shortage of something so basic on such a popular & common game.

Stencils are not hard to find if you know where to look.
