For Space Invaders. Are these something that need to be programmed or just pop em in the board?

Thank you very much, you couldn't have made it any easier for me!

Who sells Space Invaders 8080 chips?

Does anybody have a set of chips for Space Invaders? I may need the 8080 processor chip.

This company website is no longer active.

I am getting that white 2D barcode type screen. My game kept resetting, I could hear it clicking a lot, and it was kind of buggy. Occasionally it would have lines in with the alien ships that would block my shots. So I carefully reseated all my chips on my board, and it is now doing this. Not sure what I could have possibly done. I didn't bend any prongs or anything. But that longer chip was kind of hard to get out.

I am going to recap my powerboard, but I think my real problem is my cpu chip.
Thanks

I have 8080 CPUs and so does Riptor.

He received a letter demanding that he change his domain name. If you read his signature line in the post above in this thread, you'll see his new site name.

Fwiw...,

Lines in aliens are frequently caused by bad connections between the main and daughter boards, or a problem on the daughter board.

I think a si (or and midway 8080) will generate lines/bars without a CPU installed. Yours has what appears to be data on the display, which makes me suspect the CPU is functioning.

Cpu is likely ok but you have a ram problem, rom problem, or maybe an address decoding (chip select) issue. So....could be as simple as a bad rom socket or corroded chip pin. Don't bet the farm on that tho....SI boards can bite it pretty hard.

How do I impove connectivity in daughterboard slot?

What is the best way to improve connectivity in the daughter board socket on a Space Invaders? It seems to be in there all the way. Should it be cleaned or some kind of conductive solution be put inside? Or just reseat it again and again until the symptoms go away?
Or should the connectors / pins in the slot be adjusted for a tighter fit?, Or maybe the slot itself be replaced with a new one?

Maybe this is another one of those boards that needs to be sent out to a proffessional so that they can make it work.

Thanks
Jeff

Pink Eraser didn't work on connector

I tried cleaning it with a pink eraser and it didn't help the connection between the two boards. I think the next step might be to send the boards out for repair.
