when you don't fit in the KLOV clique...

I know the feeling. There are a couple of guys that are on here that live around me who dont show a interest in getting together or showing any sign of friendship. They all seem stand offish but I dont know. Is there allot of people in the hobby like this, or maybe people up north are dicks unliked people I grew up around in the south? The other guys I met that are not on here just seem to be after money in this hobby but I am not, I am in this hobby for pure enjoyment not profit

Hey, invite me over and I'll come set your new Spy Hunter record for you the next time I'm in Iowa. :)

I run in a few different arcade gaming circles (KLOV, SMAC, CAGDC), and some of the people overlap. I had an arcade party at my place on Saturday and a ton of people showed up. I didn't get a count but I estimate there were around 40 people in my basement at the peak, maybe more. Nearly a dozen were KLOVers. Dokert, freebeer, djgil, mc300baud, Oryk Zinyo, shilmover, AtHomeTech, Eric98375, and timberterror were there, and those are just the ones I know about. So many people were coming and going I lost track! :D

The whole thing started around noon, most people were gone by 11:00pm-midnight. I had three of my gaming pals from Portland staying at my place and freebeer crashed here too, and a few of us finally called it a night when the sun came up. I went to bed just after 5:30 Sunday morning. :) I'd like the rest of the Portland guys to come up but it's a three hour drive one way and I can't accommodate more than four overnight guests at my place. Either they'd have to drive back late or pool their pennies for cheap hotel rooms near my house, which is do-able. Definitely doing this again though, and definitely before the end of the summer.

More pics. That's freebeer playing RoadBlasters, and Dokert is discussing the politics of the hobby over chips and dip with somebody off camera. And everyone is staring at the TV because it's running a DVD of Starcade episodes and most people had never seen the cool game Tac/Scan before.

More pics. timberterror a little wary of being photographed? :D McAllister's attention is diverted from Tron for a moment by Tac/Scan footage on Starcade. And a few of my gaming pals from CAGDC watch Eric98375 on Moon Patrol.

Luckily I didn't have anyone too shy to show up because they didn't know everyone there. In fact, a few guys who knew each other from 2 or 3 different forums finally got to meet in person. I had three people bring their kids and a few brought wives/girlfriends.

Do I need to change my deodorant? Or was this all because I couldn't get my Berzerk back up and running for 3 hours? :D (DISCLAIMER: this post was done in [b said:

Yeah, I'd blow you off too if you couldn't keep Berzerk running ;-)

Wow...I'm being called a PRO...wow....Im...wow...

Yeah so the ironic thing is I literally went past your exit, as my buddy called about 20 minutes before I saw your PM and wanted to hit up Six Flags in Maryland, and since he drove, I was pretty much stuck with whatever he wanted to do. I was even 20 minutes away from my cousin's place down there and couldn't convince him to let me say hi. I didn't even eat dinner until 11:45pm. Things would have been much different if I was driving my own car.

I do appreciate the offer just couldn't jump on it this time.

PS - Pro at what?? :)

I invited 3 KLOVers to my place yesterday, whose names I won't reveal (BUNGY, ORION3311, THEBMAN80), and all 3 of them declined on me. One of them declined because their GIRLFRIEND didn't feel like coming??!!!

We were having a bbq with family and friends, and I thought I'd bring in a crew of gamers to shut down the "amateurs" who came for the free food and drink. My plan failed.

If I lived closer, and was invited, I would have been thrilled to go.

Maybe they weren't too exciting about the idea meeting up with some stranger from the internetz, who could easily turn out to be a psychopath, and ending up getting caged in your underground cistern, getting slowly dismembered over the course of 3 weeks, while you make a mario and luigi skin suits out of them.
