Do you feel that you have the right to sell to who you want?

Say you offered up a game for $100. Just hypothetical. Doesn't matter what it is really....

You have 3 people who said they would take it.

Do you as a seller, feel that you have a right to sell to who you want to.

Assume that each have the money in hand (most likely PayPal on here) but you feel more comfortable with one person over the other 2.

Let's say you see more legit postings, tenure on the forum, etc.

Who do you sell to?

I absolutely sell to people I know first. (usually for a lower price I was asking too, if they show interest)For a number of reasons.

The local guys whom I consider buddy's have been invaluable to me with training, knowledge, parts, and letting me pick their brains in general.

I have also done this on craigslist, whenI had a nice simpsons style cab for sale for $25.

Acejedi was the 4th person to contact me, but when I realized it was him, I let him have it.

Id only refuse a sale if someone wanted to have it shipped vs. someone paying cash in hand, and the person wanting it shipped hasnt paid yet.

on other sites its usually sold to the first one that asked for it, but its up to you in the end Ron

I agree to a certain extent.

I mean if I get 20 pm's who is to say who was first?
I would never try to screw someone, or god forbid, start a klov auction, lol.
but if I have a buddy who has helped me a ton and he wants what I have for sale. Pretty good chance he is getting it.

And you guys like to hammer arcrevival, lol. But he would be near the top of my list anytime I have anything for sale, or he has something
on his want list.

all things being equal I'd sell to the first responder. However, I can imagine situations where I'd pick a buddy or someone who had been helpful to me in the past and let them 'jump the queue' and have first dibs, but only if I hadn't struck a deal with someone else first. Once a deal is struck, the decent thing to do is stick to it.

Bottom line, it's your stuff you can sell it to whomever you want, for whatever you want to charge.

I feel the sudden urge to agree, and confirm, that if I struck a deal with someone, I would stick to it.

So why did you all of a sudden stop answering my posts about the Defender parts I wanted last year that you'd avertised here then later put on ebay?

i usually go with the first responder unless there is a circumstance about that person that keeps me from feeling comfortable with the deal (bad feedback or weird contact message mostly.) if there are multiple responders before i check my messages i may take someone i know and trust over the first responder.

that being said, i will often make things available (especially large or difficult to ship items) to my local peeps on the SMAC list, usually at a discount to what i'd sell it for on CL. so far, i have yet to resort to selling arcade-related items on CL because everything either sells through SMAC or KLOV.

If you're offering up a game for $100, remember that I live close to ya. ;)

"Are those Bugle Boy jeans you're wearing?"

I stopped getting PMs from you so I assumed you found something else. I dont know if there was something wrong with my browser or anything but there was some sort of weird thing going on where nobody was receiveing my PMs and vice versa. It still happens on occasion. I think Firefox is messing with me. If you were interested in the speaker grille, I still have that part left. If you need it, send me the funds to cover shipping and shes all yours. Please accept my apologies.

In my book, the first person to ask a question isn't the first person in line to buy.

The first person in line to buy is the person who says "i have cash/paypal", "I want it but have a question first", or "I'll take it, tell me how to pay"...

They have the right of first refusal, but I reserve the right to refuse to sell to anyone that seems to be a time waster or tire kicker. Also, if the transaction is going to be a bitch then I reserve the right for that sale as well - but I've never exercised it.

I sell in the order the PMs come in. If someone wants it bad enough to offer me more money for it - it won't bump them up in line. I appreciate they want the item badly, but I do business in the order in which in it comes in.

As long as I haven't committed to selling it to someone already, a friend has priority. However, if I've already committed to selling it to someone, the friend would be SOL unless the buyer failed to complete the deal.

I guess your browser also meant that you missed the thread that I started with your name in it asking why you weren't replying, even though you were still posting in the forums while it was active: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=105000 .

The backdoor sheets were the items I really wanted.

ive had this happen before with some records i accidentally priced way too cheap as part of a set sale. i was dealing with orders through email, and later when i checked my private messages, it turned out someone had ordered it there first. i had already confirmed the email orders though, and told the guy who sent the PM that he was too late. he argued that he had sent me the message within 4 minutes or something, and saying shit like "i dont understand your argument here" and its like, heres my argument, i am not selling it to you, period. he was convinced someone had offered me more money for it on the side, but that isnt the case, i sold it to the person i promised it to through email for the price i listed it for.

i have sold alot of stuff and try to do first come first served, but accidents can and will happen. i will give friends/repeat customers a deal or throw in something extra, but i will not give them any line bumping privileges. anyone chatting or trying to talk me down on price misses out though if someone reserves them first. if there isnt a firm "i'll take them" they are still up for grabs. i will occasionally "hold (something) until payday" for people i know, as long as they are the first to reserve it.

Other things equal, first responder. But nothing moves me like "I will buy it sight unseen, bring cash, and can pick it up today."

with all the people these days that never show, I have no set selling procedures. I usually let friends/aquaintenences know when Im getting ready to sell something that I think they might be interested it a couple weeks before I actually try to sell it.

Once I list it, someone calls to say theyll be there to look at it Ill tell them to call the night before to make sure I still have it, Im not holding anything for someone to look at.

Someone calls and says they want it and tells me when theyre picking it up, I considered sold until 1 hour after they dont show or call. Then it goes to whoever I gave 2nd option. Another thing, dont agree to buy something and get there to try to talk down the price

Ive bought things out from under other people several times, because they were coming to "look" at it to see if they want it. My general responce is to buy it from the pictures and description. Basically, Im driving 100 miles, Im not coming to look at it, Im coming to load it up, so you can consider it sold.

Course, if you get there and its not what its supposed to be, thats a different story (Couple years ago, guy advertised an 8 ft slate table in excellent condition for 250. I called to verify that it was slate, and was an 8 ft table, then drove 170 miles to find a 6 foot wal mart table)

Once I tell someone its sold though, its sold. Unless I break something, I dont back out on any agreement. As far as Im concerned, a verbal agreement is like a handshake, and a handshake is better to me than any contract. A man is only as good as his word, and as far as Im concerned if your word is no good then your a lying fucking weasel, and I put liers in the same catagory with thieves and dont want anything to do with either one.
