So, I've got a couple cabs that were converted, painted, converted again, stripped, reconverted, etc that currently have some crap game in them and are working, but I want to install a couple NOS or other kits into those cabs that I like.

I have a Berzerk/Frenzy cab that is black and converted into Wheel of Fortune.

I have a Moon War cab that is green and converted to Ten Yard Fight '84.

Now, I have a Rastan kit (bezel, marquee, board, new cpo) that was taken out of an old Robotron that was converted back (good). I'd really like to put it in the Berzerk cab, but everything is too wide. I do have an old stripped Joust cab that someone tried to re-stencil and screwed up that I could put it in, but I was thinking of someday putting it back to Joust and selling it.

And I have a NOS Roc n' Rope kit (NOS bezel, NOS marquee, NOS cpo, board) that I want to put into the Moon War cab, but it's wider than the Rastan stuff.

So, how did operator's do it? I know they didn't all have the ability to cut these down for whatever Stargate or Taito cab they were converting.

Am I going to have to cut these down to make them fit? I can probably take them to a local plastics place and have them cut it professionally for me, but I hate to do it. Can't imagine holding these forever hoping to find a crappy cab that they'll fit...

From what I can tell they cut everything down to make it fit. Most plastics can be scored and broken along the score. It tends to come out a little sloppy but the edges are usually not exposed so they didn't care.

I have also found where the op added a second piece of plexi in order to make something that was too small fit.

I guess I need to look at the bezel in question to make sure it wouldn't be cutting off anything important....

Yeah, definitely be careful with that. The bezel in my Time Soldiers game (in a Zaxxon cab) was cut down by the operator to fit. Only problem is that he was not very careful and cut off part of the instructions on the left side.

I used a table saw with a plastic blade to cut them down. If that didnt work I used the scoring tool.

For plastics, just get a plexiglass scorer.

A gal I know works for a plastics company a block from my work. That's where I get new plexi or tinted plexi from. I'm sure they'd cut it perfectly for a couple bucks.

And this is about what I'd need to do to get the Rastan stuff to fit the Berzerk cab...

Don't do it. That Bezel is fucking sweet, and Berzerk is a great game and should be restored. You'll regret both of those decisions should you choose not to heed my warning.

The only thing I might be a little worried about is the plastics age at this point. Theres a chance that its dried out and will splinter when its cut. It will get messed up by a table saw before you can do anything about it. The scoring knife should be OK though.

I'm sure that a place that deals with plexi all day long knows how to get past the age of these things though.
