When does (did) the fever start to die?

My downfall was buying that PP cab, pulling the marquee and being smothered with mouse shit once again. "F*ck!, another one?!?!?"

I haven't touched it since. (Of course, I'm WAITING for parts :)

I have since pulled the Holosseum apart to figure out the missing button issue. Again, dead end without a picture or manual.

Next, I think I'll start working on the Circus Charlie cab. Just can't find the motivation.

Look at it this way: maybe you finally have everything that you really want. Sure, there are those games that are nice to have, but you have everything you wanted when you started.

you know, the space issue is a weird thing for me. every time i run out of space, inevitably the wife will say "you know, we can put XXX in the house" and then i'll get space. next, i'll get another game and she'll say "this is the last game, no more space..."

it's a vicious cycle.

You need to buy a bigger house. thats what I did went from 1245 sq ft to 2782 sq ft and couldnt be happier!

Heh .... I know who owned that.
Was tempted myself, especially for the price.
...

Rob seems to be a really cool guy. My sister called me a few hours ago and said it's now in her garage.

Gotta love family that supports your craziness...

The sad part Ken is that machine would be junked within 15 minutes of being in my garage and though the asking price is quite good, i wouldn't have even picked up the phone. I'm even turning down the free shit now and this is when you know the fever has died.

I am so bummed you are getting out. It really will be nice when a lot of the hacks are gone and we can get back to how it used to be. Greed and lazy people really tainted this hobby.

Dont worry, he's the one who is "down there".

I know, I was just picturing him lifting his head from your lap and gleefully making his statement before going back to 'work'. Gotta pay the internet bill somehow I guess.

For me the hobby has matured, I only want a couple of games. My GRAILS the rest I pass on. After a couple of years I realized that I wanted quality not quantity.

I think it's true of any hobby - after you get most of the things you want, it doesn't mean as much. It's the chase that's exciting.

Things that were grails suddenly become disposable.

Other hobbies will come along, to take your time and resources.
.

This seems to be me I get the itch then have to many projects and not enough time,Then other hobbies pop back up and ultimately there is only so much money and time to go around.

diminishing returns. the returns dramatically diminished after the first game for me. i just own a MK/SF/Xbox/Mame hybrid thing and Defender and I have no desire for more arcades. My brother also has 2 so that means 4 in my house at the moment (he has a 4 player mame and a neo geo) and that is more than plenty. they are too bulky and a lot of trouble, I don't know how you guys do it.

Wow what a thread. Look what you started Mod. Here is my two cents. I want to say thanks to all of you here, those that give the time to help us beginners. A huge percentage of the individuals who have participated in this thread have helped me personally with needed help at some point. I have learned so much from all of you. Many of you talk about checking ebay and CL, I'm hooked on checking this forum. I hate the days that there are very few entries in the monitor and repair sections.

THANK YOU!!!

Yeah, my obsession started over at BYOAC first, though I'm not sure why. Now I'm on regularly. I too am very thankful to several people from here for the good advice and help.

I've come to a realization that I don't really enjoy PLAYING the games as much as I enjoy REPAIRING the games. But that's no secret -- I've always been turned on my taking something worth nothing and turning into something of value. I love fixing stuff.
