When did cap kits become so expensive?

The problem is that a significant portion of the population lacks the capacity or desire to understand that most situations, including world events, economic situations, conflicts, etc., come from many causes with wide-ranging effects. Those people do not understand nuance or critical thinking and cannot contemplate the many variables that get a concept to its "destination". Those people only have the capacity to assign those issues as the fault of one person, one group, or one cause. An example of this would be the many who believe their chosen elected leader has a direct line to the price of gasoline.

Inflation is mentioned here. This is a complex subject that is pertinent in many parts of the world at the moment. It is due to a multitude of factors, with the pandemic being a major driving force. Economic information shows this trend easing over the past year (but don't tell those people that).

Someone with critical thinking skills could at least consider those factors, understand the situation, and at least "get" that this is not the product of one person's policies (in one country) or somebody randomly pressing economic buttons. Even so, a major feature of modern America is the fact that the simplest, laziest, and most uninformed among us always advertise themselves the loudest.
On the contrary, when leading economists warned that such bills would FUEL the already hot inflation, and yet the administration went ahead with it anyway in order to cement some sense of accomplishment, that is a reckless policy that had repercussions.

That it is easing now (since the throttles are now closed and the M1 is declining) is a good thing, but generally, once prices go UP they seldom come down, as once wages go up, they seldom come down.

I will agree there are nuances at play here. Yet, I can see the various people saying such crazy spending will fuel inflation, and then it does, it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

It all feeds on itself.

Raw material prices go up, so product prices go up.
Fuel prices go up, so product prices go up.
Finished product prices go up, so wages have to go up.

It's the economic cycle. It's been playing out for years and years, and doesn't make a masters degree in economics to understand. While there are certainly nuances, you'd be hard pressed to find an expert that didn't link this current burst of inflation to the bills passed early in the Biden/Harris Administration, including the incorrectly named "Inflation Reduction Act." And President Biden even admitted it.

In a word, no. My time is worth more than that. Email Peter, get kit, install kit. Done. Move on with more fun things.
Your time is money.

So if you have more time than money, go to DigiKey or Mouser or whoever.

If you have more money than time, go to APAR.

Time is a precious commodity. And it isn't subject to inflation.

I paid $4.85/gal for gas in Corinth, Texas in June 2022. by August it was $2.79/gal. I got gas here the other day for $2.69.

since you keep wanting to go political here, republicans actively campaigned on "ReDuCiNg InFlAtIoN" in 2022 and now in 2024 and every bill that came up for it they _all_ voted NO. they're not interested in helping you or me. they can't even be bothered most of the time to show up to do their jobs.

also COVID was a global pandemic. it didn't just affect you and the MAGAs. it damaged the entire planet economically and the United States despite your article is actually succeeding.

you all can't seem to discern the difference between inflation and corporate price gouging. inflation is down to 2.3%. Donald Trump is campaigning on "NO INFLATION" which is not possible but if you respond exclusively to buzzwords I can see how it's appealing. I shopped at a Kroger store the other night because every other store here was closed because I needed a loaf of bread. very ordinary bread that's about $2.50 at worst at Walmart was $5 there, but hey, they're offering LOL LOCKED IN LOW PRICES. in case you don't understand the gravity of how bad a Kroger/Albertson's merger can be, this is why.

I'm not interested in debating you, so please don't quote-reply me. this shouldn't even be discussed here.

At $25 is it not cheaper to just spec the monitor out and do a DigiKey run?
For me, time is money. So, I don't even bother setting time aside to spec it out. Especially if someone has already done the legwork for me.

Also, people may have an opinion on this, but I like doing the curl mod that's in the cap kit instructions (For a G07 in this example). Not many do it yourselfers have the knowledge on how to do that on their own. (Doesn't count if you've already done it in the past and memorized it.)

Not always.
You wind up finding 70% of the parts at one vender, 20% at another and 10 at a third. The time spent searching is zero gain and then you are paying different shipping to boot.

That and the fact that guys like Peter are buying in large quantities with considerable savings that he passes on to us.

no one's caps are more expensive because [politician you really really don't like] did or didn't [the thing that really upsets you]. despite what [your preferred media outlet] has said, this is not the case.

touch grass caps bro.

yeah cause I'm getting sick of going through and deleting posts. I'm probably going to miss some until I have time to thoroughly go through it.

So do me a favor, do yourself a favor and stop yourself from getting banned, go to the sub forum.

...or bottles of grape juice.

I remember taking a monitor to Buffet once and he just wanted a few bucks and a couple of bottles of Welch's.

ahhh Buffet.
Oh, that's because he LIKED working on monitors. He would only charge Buffets for cap kits because it was outside of his bailiwick.

Political or not....shit is still expensive as fuck....it's not the same as it was...went through the damn drive thru at taco bell on a whim they wanted over 11 bucks for 3 damn tacos...a fucking candy bar is like 3 + bucks, 6 7 bucks for a bag of damn doritos...I'm NOT being political....but food is expensive as fuck(as well as other things. Don't make excuses for them, no matter who they are.

$25 for a kit (that used to cost $10) really isn't that much when you consider overall cost/value of the repair (in terms of time or money).
