Picked up a Taito Gladiator yesterday that was painted over black but could see a few pieces of the classic green paint underneath so I went to work stripping the paint.Being afraid of damaging the paint underneath I only left the Citristrip on for probably under a minute. To my dismay the green paint underneath came off also. Guess it's time to order up the stencils.

How does the control panel look on your Taito cab? I have a Gladiator in a Defender cab that I would like to put in a Taito cab. I have an overlay for it, but was curious as to how it looked.

I found that the paint they used for stenciling is a lot whimpier than the stuff people usually use to paint over it. It's not a big surprise that happened. You'll end up making it look better than it ever could have.

yup, williams cabinets also don't like the stuff. i was hoping to strip just the black paint off my robotron but the blue started coming up.

Paint over vinyl...perfect.

Paint over paint....recipe for disaster.

I don't know if there is anyway to remove a painted cab without damaging paint below it. I would just strip it all and stencil it.

I used it and the samething happened on a Taito cab, the paint on Taito cabs are weak your gonna have to completely strip and re stencil that's what I ended up doing.
