The machine was playing my MB ok even though the monitor has some folding on the top.

I swapped in a Popeye I just got off of a KLOVer and it rolled at first but then straightened it out.

The board seems to have problems... all sounds are fine. Last pic was of the MB before I swapped boards.

That doesn't really look like a board problem... that looks like maybe vertical size and/or vertical hold needs adjusted on the monitor.

Are you using the correct PS? MB and Popeye use 2 different ones...

I have both in my MB widebody.

Meaning you have both powersupplies? The harnesses and stuff seem to plug in the same.

The problem is most likely due to the fact that Popeye takes only +5V as the PP-900A only outputs +5V ( and +24V for the counter) The PP-7A (or 7B) both supply -5V and +12V on some of the lines that would normally be +5V on a Popeye harness. Basically what Joe said is correct. If you're just looking to plug and play you're screwed unless you modify your harness to have pins 5-8 (9-pin connector) and 6-10 (10 pin connector) all +5V. You would have to pull the pins out of the housings and tie them all together and connected to +5 to work. Or just get a PP-900A PS.
Actually the more I think about it the pinouts are more different then alike

here's a PP-7A pin out for 9 and 10 respectively:

pins

1-3 GND
4,5 +12
6,7 +5
8 -5
9 +24

1-4 -5
5-8 GND
9,10 +5

PP-900A

pins
1-4 GND
5-8 +5
9 +24

1-5 GND
6-10 +5

hope that helps man.

Greg is correct.

I didn't go into full detail, since I wanted to be clear. But, the information above looks correct. Thanks for clarification!

Yes, I am running both PS in the same cab. Once set up correctly, all you would have to do is swap the video and audio connections to run the other pcb.

Since you ran +5 through your -5, you most likely caused damage to the Popeye.

I have both in my MB widebody.

Can you post pictures of how both power supplies are mounting inside your cab?

I'm wondering if an extention cable can be re-wired correctly from where the main harness plugs to the MB and goes to a 2nd Popeye cage.

I have a Popeye PS also so maybe I can do it in reverse... rewire it to power the MB and the wire that properly on the extension harness to the popeye.

What I'd like to do ultimately is to just go into the back, unclip the main harness from the normal placement of the MB cage and plug that into an edge connector that is connects all the way to a 2nd cage with Popeye in it.

Thanks, OMG they reduced the PS of the Popeye to just the smallest section. I have both power supplies but I really don't want to power both boards always. I'd consider a toggle switch somewhere on who gets power. Hmmm I really have to figure this whole project out.

OK, I swapped in the Popeye PS, main harness and the picture is still the same. Why would it be the same for two different power supplies unless it's not a power issue.

Unless the cage adaptors are different also... Hmmm I'll compare them.

oh sorry.... I guess I was focused on the power supply issues.

But here's the thing... could that happen from plugging it into a Mario Power Supply?

Thanks

ok this from Dick Milikan

"Plugging it in shouldn't cause a problem, I use the same adapter for D.K., Jr, D.K. III, Popeye and Mario Bros with no problems, you can plug a Popeye into any of the five and it should play, you may have to tweak the V & H hold a bit, you cant play the others in a Popeye cab because you will be missing some voltages, Popeye only uses +5V."

Could this be a resolution thing? Doesn't Popeye run at a higher resolution than other Nintendo games?

Popeye works in all DK's (with an edge connector type harness) and in Mario Bros. Always has. The others won't work in Popeye, Dick's right about that.
