It's obvious that there is no power getting to the isolation transformer because the power input wires are disconnected.

It looks like the black wire with blue (or is it gray) stripe that has the piece of a broken terminal in it goes to one side of the empty fuseholder. The short black wire with yellow stripes goes to the other side of the empty fuseholder and to the empty "0V" terminal on the isolation transformer.

Note: the empty fuseholder has no fusecap to hold a fuse in it so you might have to go to Radio shack and buy another complete "panel mount" style fuseholder.

The monitor fuse is probably a 1 amp slo-blow for that fuseholder.

i didnt even see that lil tab down there!!!

you are the man ken, ill keep you posted =)

correct!! they had the two wires jammed together with a lil piece of metal...to bypass the fuse

when the machine got moved the lil piece of metal fell out and the wires seperated

i recreated the scene of the crime and the monitor fired up =)

its all scrambled and fucked up but we got power!

off to radio shack...

replaced the fuse holder and did a 1amp slow blow

monitor came right on =)

now heres the next part....

(movie 11megs)

looks like a power problem to me

ran through all the adjust controls... ver hold, horz hold, ect...nothing

i played with, what im guessing is a power inverter, its gotta lil adjust knob on it...
with a red light and you adjust and it goes green... anyway i mess with that and the bars on the screen change, so im assuming its a power problem

oh yah... and no sound...

ideas?

wells gardner btw

Could be severe electrical noise coming from the switching regulator power supply in the bottom of the cabinet (due to bad capacitors inside the power supply).

Could be a dirty/mis-seated edge connector on the gameboard.

Could be the monitor needs a capkit.

i got full stretch, horizontal and vertical...
but
im guessing cap kit

wheres the test point on the monitor board?
should i be looking for 108v like the sanyos?

i found...

TP3 24.7 VAC
TP2 0.0 VAC
TP1 1.3 VAC

cap kit? =)

Did you check the two other things Ken suggested?

Edit: Since the fuse was blown at some point and that crap on the screen is so uniform, I would try another switcher if you have one handy.

i dont have any extra parts...

*update*

TP2 - 0.0 - - 0.0
TP3 - 24.7 - - 11.5

Do you have a power supply from a PC? :)

Not sure what your test points are supposed to be but my guess is that your voltages are good enough for the game to be running so well. If that noise wasn't there it would look really good. Can you play it fine?

yah i have a computer power supply... 200 or a 300w outta a dell

looks like it plays fine, just that diagonal "rain"

just looking at the voltages... that last one seems low

no idea what they are supposed to be either... but im assuming 12's and 5's are good...
so im guessing cap kit... and/or maybe crappy power supply

Well Ken basically said edge connector, caps in the PS, or caps in the monitor. So if you checked the edge connector, your looking at caps for something. :)

You could try the PC power supply to see if that gets rid of the noise. If you have a local supply for switchers, it isn't a bad idea to have a spare one of those around anyway for troubleshooting games.

i live in boon town, there hasnt been an arcade around here since the 90s =)

all i got is radio shack =P

whats the best place to get a cap kit for the monitor?
bob sell those?

what about the no sound...
maybe a dip switch setting?

Bob does sell cap kits for most monitors.

The no sound issue could be the board, DD boards tend to have sound problems. Do you have another Jamma board you can plug in to test the sound?

Bob has cap kits and switchers. :)

Anything coming out of the speaker(s)? Check the wiring, speaker connection, volume control, etc. Just go through that wiring first before suspecting a real problem.

i cant find a volume control...

but there is a mystery pot and button that dont do anything....

im guessing maybe this is volume and service credit switch

I'm pretty sure that is the volume pot. Too bad it isn't doing anything. ;)

Edit: How are the connections looking on the speaker(s)?

well guess what!!!??
just out of curiosity i changed the main fuse with a new 3amp 250 and the interference is gone!!!! (kind of, theres still a little)

makes me wonder what fuses are supposed to be in this thing....

the connections to the speakers are fine...

colors are all out wack, the red bias and drive dont do much at all... the car in the begining is supposed to be red? i cant get it to look red at all...

The control next to the coin door is your volume control. Be sure it's properly connected and follow the wires to the board making sure there are no breaks in the wire or bad connectors. That pushbutton is the free credit switch. Often that switch develops tarnished internal contacts. Spray it out with contact cleaner or replace it (it's really a doorbell button without a light bulb inside).
