I keep telling myself I need to let off on buying games and then I go buy another. I picked up Point Blank on Saturday and because I got it so much cheaper than I thought I would I went and picked up a Millipede last night! I seriously can't stop buying these things, its like crack! I guess it could be worse, it could be crack but still..... Anyone else end up doing this?

On a better note, the Millipede is really clean and plays great, it even had the original manual inside when I opened it up!

Where was your wife during all of this? If you don't have one, get one and she will put a stop to it.

I have a wife, she's tried to put a stop to it at first. My first game ended up in the living room and she wasn't happy but after seeing the reaction of all our guests when they saw them changed her mind. She's behind me building my arcade and even finds games for me. The only reason I was able to bring Millipede home is because it's her favorite game or I would have had to sneak it in and pretend I had it for a while.... yeah, that doesn't really work. I'm not spending food money or anything. We're actually in the process of buying a house and she always points out where the arcade would work best.

I thought I would stop after 5-7. I have 10 now (one of which is a twin driver) and physically no more room (I've already spilled over into the adjacent living room. I feel your pain.

Time is the only cure. I have finally stopped buying for a bit I think. I currently have 11 vids and 2 pins, but there have been around 40 other games that have passed through before getting to this point. I stopped buying because I want to spend some time enjoying the games I have for a while. I know it is temporary, but I am enjoying being out of the game for the time being. I just sold one last week because I would hardly ever play it (well, and I needed the money, but ti would have been sold at some point). When all of the games are working, you really figure out which ones actually get played. So far, my favorites from the arcade days are still holding up.

Don't beat yourself up too much about not being able to stop buying. Eventually it will even out a bit.

Edit: I bought a Millipede a while back only because it was a good deal. Now it is one of my favorites even though I never liked it in the 80s. Impulsive buying can be good once in a while. lol

This can quickly become an AA meeting.

I too, am an addict....

I currently have 3 in living room, 10 in garage, 6 in game room, and 1 in my buddies garage

I have a self help phamplet.... It's not helping

I'd say you're a normal collector like the rest of us. :) I just got a SF2 Champion Edition even though I'm really at max capacity. Even still there is an auction this weekend and I've already rationalized how I could buy one if it was a good deal.

Welcome to therapy.

We accept you for what you are. ;)

My best advice is to get that arcade room ready so you can start putting them in there ASAP before things get out of control. You don't want the wife to swing the other way. Seems like it is going fine right now.

I have tried to stop buying in the past, it never worked. I told my wife this was the last game I am buying 2 years ago. I don't think there is a cure for this and I don't see this habit changing for the next ten years.

It's natural. Buy a game, play game until you're tired of it, sell game, buy two games to replace the one you sold. :)

There is no cure, the best you can do is learn to focus on a theme. Space games. Atari games, Williams games, vector games, games with cute little animals in them, kung fu games, Stern games, Konami games, games with dragons, side scrollers, games with movie themes, ...

If you pick a theme, it helps to narrow down the potential acquisitions, except for non-theme grails of course :D

couldnt have said it better,I just sold a pin and a vid then picked up another vid. I usually hoover around 5 since i live in an apartment and all.

One thing you will find is there is always a decent deal to be had around here. I quit jumping on every good deal a year or two ago.

Don't get me wrong I still look every day, and pick up cabs, but not every one of them. :)

Around 200 and counting!!!!!!!!! It is never going to stop.......Then come the multiples......
Then come the part cabinets........I'm just slightly mad..............

games

i am obsessed also. there are too many games out there being sold cheap. i cant seem to resist. as for the wife i would rather ask forgiveness than ask permission! i started with a few and got hit with the bug. have built most of my collection this year! the best thing that can happen is run out of room. i have got rid of so much stuff that sat around my garage so i can fit another 10 games in there! i can understand how this can become an addiction. gotta just say NO! to the arcade games!
